FEARS FEAR FAITH!!

Fears fear faith!
Verse for Today: March 31, 2013
Mark 16:04 – But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.

God confirms the faith of His people as He goes before them to reveal His truth to strengthen our faith to keep going forward. There are very large stones of doubts, confusions and apprehensions which stand in our human minds to obstruct us from seeing our faith in action. But when we go forward by faith, God interferes in His mysterious ways to reveal it to us by removing hindrances. The three women who were anxious about the very large stones of doubts and confusion found that the stone has already been removed and the stage set for them to go deeper into the tomb. The empty tomb made great believers out of them about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was revealed to those poor women who had the greatest urge to go forward in spite of the large hindrance. If they had stayed back thinking about the large stone, they would not have seen the empty tomb. Thus they had the first opportunity to spread abroad the wonderful news about the risen Savior. Their eyes were opened to see the reality of the truth of resurrection before everyone else because they had the faith to go forward. Today the removal of the large stone speaks to us about the way our God removes the hindrance from our pathways. Thus we can go forward to see great and wonderful truths for us to believe and be strengthened in our faith. No matter how large the stone of obstruction and unbelief might be, if we take the step of faith and go forward, our God will see to it that every hindrance is removed and every obstruction cleared. The faith of the women at the tomb challenges us to trust God and His power to strengthen our faith and convictions about what He will do for us in the days ahead.

Dear reader, are you afraid of the large obstructions and hindrances in front of you and wonder how you would go forward in your walk of faith? Is there doubt, confusion or apprehension as to how the stones of hindrance would be removed? The removal of your fears and confusions is God’s response to your bold steps to go forward. In His infinite wisdom and eternal plan, He removes the stones of fear and doubt from our pathways, but we will experience it only when we take steps of faith to go forward. He gives us grace for each step we take to go forward, but if we do not take the steps of faith, we will not able to experience the grace and will continue in our unbelief and fear to remain where we are to keep wondering about it. But God’s revelation of the greater truths to our hearts is His response to our faith which, of course, is His gift to us. Today let us break the barrier of fear and doubt and trust God to keep us going when the going gets tough. There might be large stones of obstructions, but God will remove it for us if we trust Him and in His strength. It is not the strength of our faith, but the object of our faith that finds the removal of obstructions of fear and apprehension. But when we trust God, He will see to it that we march forward, bypassing every obstruction and hindrance, to see the reality of our faith which is founded on the resurrection of our Lord. Yes, He is alive today and so is our hope for the future. Because He is alive, we are also alive in Him with all that He will accomplish in and through our lives us for His glory.

Psalms 46:2 – Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Thought for Today
When we trust God, He removes the hindrances from our pathways and opens our eyes to experience it.

HYMNS FOR ALL SITUATIONS!!

Hymns for all situations!
Verse for Today: Saturday, March 30, 2013
Mark 14:26 – When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

One of the greatest privileges enjoyed by God’s children is the grace to sing hymns of praise at all times. When situations are favorable or unfavorable, there are appropriate hymns for them to sing to praise God. Our hymns come from the conviction that all our situations are ruled and overruled by the Lord. In the backdrop of the forthcoming sufferings of Jesus and the celebration of the first Lord’s Supper in prospect, they still had a hymn of praise because all that was happening to the Lord and to them were ordained of the Lord. God’s people have a song to sing at every juncture of their lives. When situations look sad, dangerous or cloudy, we are taught to praise God. Many songs and hymns depicting the events which preceded Calvary were already in the Psalms, the hymn book of the people of God. Today God gives such songs to His children to sing and praise Him in all their situations. We can sing hymns in anticipation of the fulfillment of God’s promises. These hymns and spiritual songs comfort and strengthen us to keep going. Hymns help us to focus our hearts and minds on Jesus in our times of adversity and anguish. Songs appropriate to each of our situations is brought to our attention by the Spirit and prompt us to sing in our lonely hours. Some of the most comforting spiritual songs were born in moments of utter pain and anguish in the lives of God’s people. Such songs and hymns lift us up from our difficult situations to the streets of Heaven and to the Throne Room of the King. We find comfort, solace and peace as we sing and praise God in and for all our situations. Our songs in the night strengthen our faith as our Lord rules and overrule all our failures and frustrations to give us victory.

Dear reader, are you wallowing and weeping in the dark valleys of life without any hope? Is there intense pain and agony in your heart because your situation tries to push you around? You might be tempted to curse your situations and dive deep into depression because of utter hopelessness. But there is no need for you to swim in the muddled waters of despair and despondency. The Spirit of God will give you hymns of praise in your soul which will enable you to commit your situations to God and rest in Him. When you hand your troubles over to the Lord and take your hands off, He will take it on His shoulders and find solutions for you. He will turn your troubles into time of trust and confidence in Him. Over the past millenniums, God has given His children innumerable hymns in every language to sing and find comfort. There are hymns appropriate for every situation which we encounter and sing along as we travel through the dark pathways of life.  God gives us songs when we are shut in the dark valleys of life without any stars in our horizon. There are hymns which will help us to take our eyes off the waves and the wind that beat against us. God helps us to sing during persecution as did Paul and Silas. There are hymns to sing when we rest in caves shown to us by God as in the case of David. There are also songs which we can sing when we just come out of our troubles as did Israelites after crossing the Red Sea. Today the hymns of praise that God gives us take our hearts away from our situations and fix it on our Lord who controls our situations.

Psalms 40:3 – He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.

Thought for Today
Songs of praises wipe our tears, lift our burdens and fill us with the joy of the Lord.

BEHIND THE CROSS!!

Behind the cross!
Verse for Today: Friday, March 29, 2013
Mark 11:07 – They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and (Jesus) sat on it.

There were many colts in Palestine during Jesus’ time, but He chose to ride on one which was never used by anyone to ride. He was looking for a colt which could be fully dedicated for Him to ride. The colt had no experience carrying people, but it willingly and gracefully carried Jesus around. When Jesus rode the colt through the streets of Jerusalem, no one would have noticed the colt, but all saw Jesus and worshiped Him. The colt was not concerned about what to eat or the length of the assignment, but it would just trust its Master to look after its needs and toil. The colt rode with its head to the ground and would not raise it up so that it would not in any way be seen, but its heavenly rider would be seen with His head lifted up. But that was the greatest moment of contentment for that colt as it was chosen to carry Jesus around. The colt didn’t resist a new rider because that rider was its Creator God who had every right to ride on it. Jesus is today looking for lives which are fully dedicated to Him so that He can use it. The colt that Jesus rode had an earthly owner who had no reluctance to release it for Jesus. Jesus expects the same attitude from all His children with all our assets so that it can all be used for Him. Like that colt, we are fortunate to carry Jesus around as His witnesses. He doesn’t want us to carry anyone else in our lives. It is a great blessing for us to be His witnesses without being concerned about ourselves and our affairs. Our lives are for Him to use the way He wants. He has absolute claim over our lives because He created us through Adam and recreated us on the cross. Today let us untie ourselves from all our earthly bondage and submit all our faculties for Jesus to use us as we leave all our life’s concerns to Him.

Dear reader, are you bonded with the world around you or free for Jesus to use you today? Are you more concerned about your own well-being that you show reluctance to be of use to Jesus? Remember, the opportunity that you have today may never come back to you. There are so many others whom He can use, but it has pleased Him to ride on your life today which is your greatest privilege. In order to exemplify Him in your life, you will have to shed your ego, personal priorities and concerns for your welfare. When you surrender yourself to be His witness, He takes care of all your concerns. As His colt, you have no scope to expect great privileges like carrying the nobility and the wise of the world. The best you can expect from this world is to carry its perishable commodities. The world will force you to carry heavy loads for which all you get is some fodder at the will and pleasure of your taskmasters. But when Jesus rides on your life, you walk on decorated streets with the accompaniment of praise to the King. Today Jesus wants you for His agenda in this world. If you are willing to leave behind all the comforts and security of your earthly owners and all that binds you to the world, He will make use of you for His glory. When you carry His name in your life, He takes you forward with Him. Your great reward in this world is that your life lifts up the King of glory. But a greater reward awaits you at the Bema for promoting the cause of Jesus here on earth.

Luke 17:10 – “We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”

Thought for Today
Hiding behind the cross of Jesus to glorify Him is the greatest privilege of the unworthy servants of the King.

TRANSFORMED BY FAITH!!

Transformed by faith!
Verse for Today: Thursday, March 28, 2013
Mark 10:50 – Throwing his cloak aside, (Bartimaeus) jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

We often trust in the temporary comforts the world gives us which hinders us from going to God in utter dependence. But unless we are willing to shed our trust in what the world offers, we will not be free to go to Jesus for transformation. Spiritually blind people like Bartimaeus had to shed their cloak of comfort and the rebuke of the crowd to reach Jesus. The cloaks and the walking sticks that this world gives only perpetuate their dependence on and bondage with the world. Jesus doesn’t want us to be blind and deprived. He wants our eyes open so that we can see His glory which is possible only if we forsake our bindings and dependence on the temporal things the world offers. When Jesus of Nazareth passes our way to change our lives, it is our moment of truth to go to Him and acknowledge Him as our only hope.. It is our opportunity for heavenly light to enter into our lives. It is our time to shed our life of begging for the mercy of the world and its systems of bondage, and depend upon Jesus to revolutionize our lives. Jesus stops for us at the threshold of our lives and asks us to go to Him by faith and submit our problems and needs to Him. The God of impossibility will meet our dire needs and revolutionize our outlook. But we need to confess our nothingness just as Bartimaeus confessed himself as a blind a blind beggar. Jesus meets our basic needs so that we can follow Him like Bartimaeus did. Today is our opportunity to cry unto Him no matter how vast our needs are. He will oblige us and grant our requests to help us see His glory so that we can shed our dependence on this world and its temporary solaces to follow Him.

Dear friend, are you blindly dependent on the world and its system to meet your daily needs? Are you taking comfort in the cloaks and the mats that the world has imposed upon you to be perennially under its bondage? But there is no need for you to continue to endure the begging bowl of this world. The Lord Jesus is passing by just for you to draw near to Him. He wants you to cry unto Him and let your needs be known to Him. Even though there is a multitude which follows Him, He is still willing to stop for you. The crowd will not show any sympathy, but will only rebuke you because your loud cries of dependence and faith will be an inconvenience for them. Jesus came to this world for needy people like you and not for mob which has selfish interests. He is more interested in one needy and crying individual than a crowd of curious people. He is ready and willing to stop to bless you if you are willing to shed your dependence on the world and its systems. Just come up from your beggar’s corner and live like a prince or princes for Jesus by faith. He will open your eyes to see the Blessed One who is the owner of all the blessings of the heavenly places. He knows all your needs and will answer your prayers to meet all your needs according to His riches in glory. When you see Him in His glory, it would certainly satisfy your every longing. His glory will help you to leave behind your old lifestyle to follow Him. He will transform your life as you walk after Him by faith. Today Jesus is coming your way to change your life and meet your needs if only you are willing to go to Him by faith.

Psalms 9:10b - … for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Thought for Today
Our unwillingness to admit our needs and to shed the cloaks of dependence on the world often hinders us from being transformed by Jesus.

MIDNIGHT HOPE!!

Midnight hope!
Verse for Today: Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Mark 6:48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night (Jesus) went out to them walking on the lake.

God’s omnipresence is the greatest comfort of His people as they go through the rough patches of life. He is with us in our darkest nights when no one else is around to help. He sees how much we are struggling with our boat and the oars in the sea of life. When we are stuck in the middle of the opposing winds and the roaring waves in the darkest nights, His presence is with us to illuminate His glory to our eyes. When there is fear and apprehension in our hearts and when we lose all hope, Jesus comes to us to give us hope, courage and confidence. He will not leave us alone to fight our battles in life, but will strengthen us to keep going. In our emptiness, He comes to fill us. In our weaknesses, He comes to empower us. When all hope is gone, He comes to rekindle our hope and faith. In our exasperation, He comes to give us confidence. When we are all alone, He comes to give us companionship. He walks over the volatile waves and high tides of our lives to demonstrate His power and strength. His appearance in the midst of our turmoil and turbulence takes away our fear, anxiety, doubt and confusions. His presence rekindles our hope to keep trusting Him to see us through our difficulties.  He comes to partake in our trials and will not leave us to suffer all alone. Sometimes we wonder why He is far away, or delaying, but He will come waling over our troubles at the right time to dispel our fears and anxieties. He is our partner in all our difficulties to take us forward through it all towards His purposes for us.

Dear friend, are you going through serious battles in life in dark, windy and unstable circumstances? Are there moments when you feel all alone to paddle through the overpowering wind and waves of life? Are you friendless and lonely in your struggles? Is your strength ebbing away as you keep fighting battles one after another? But the Lord who has brought you so far will not leave you alone in the desperate moments of your life. When all your situations and circumstances are against you, the Lord will still come to fortify you to keep going. He was with Paul when all the people he loved forsook Him. When Daniel was far away from home and fighting his battles in the difficult circumstances and situation, his Lord was with Him and delivered him from all his troubles. David experienced the warmth and care of His Great Shepherd when he faced threats. His Lord helped Jacob to keep going whenever the going became tough and brought him through the splendid experiences of Bethel, Peniel, Beersheba and Hebron. Jesus saw Paul through the wreckage of life in prisons, seas, court rooms and among angry mobs. He kept His hands on Jeremiah to continue with his ministry in the midst of all his battles. He gave revelations of His glory to John when he was in Patmos in exile as an old man. He goes to all His children who are going through turbulence and turmoil, to release them and to give them the grace to go through it all and get victory. Today He comes to you to impart courage and to take away your fears and anxieties. Look unto Him and allow His glory to radiate into our desperation to give you confidence and courage to keep going.

Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed because I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Thought for Today
Our God comes to shed His glory on our worst scenarios to strengthen and release us.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!!

Satisfaction guaranteed!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Mark 6:42 – They all ate and were satisfied.

A crowd of a few thousands is multifarious in its varied needs of different dimensions. The crowd consists of people of all age groups of both genders with different intensity of cravings and priorities. They were dissatisfied with the then religion which was shallow, external and degenerating. Then they heard Jesus and found His messages to meet their spiritual needs because He preached the true oracles of God. They didn’t go after Jesus for material food, but it came as a bonus. They were hungry for spiritual food and they went after the true manna from heaven. Their cravings could not be satiated with one or two messages from Jesus and so they ran after more. Jesus continued to serve them with spiritual food and gave them all that they could take. Even though they had no material food for some time, they didn’t grumble because that was not their priority. But Jesus knew their need for material food as well and gave them enough and more through the available meager substance. He miraculously fed them to satisfy their hunger. Even today Jesus satisfies the needs of all who go to Him with their cravings. He gives according to the intensity and diversity of our needs. He welcomes all the needy to His presence with the assurance that all their longings would be fully met. Today Jesus invites all that are spiritually hungry with varying spiritual needs to go to Him with great expectations. There is a guarantee to find fulfillment because He gives for our needs to be fully met. There is no limitation of means for Jesus. He gives the best in the right measure to each according to the intensity of need. He has no favoritism or prejudice in what He gives and how it is given. He wants us to sit down at His green pastures, trusting Him to give us to meet all our needs.

Dear reader, do you have a craving for all that Jesus has to offer today? Jesus offers all that would meet our spiritual, emotional and physical needs at all times and at all places. His presence is open for the needy people to go to Him. There are those who try to satisfy their physical and social needs through the bounty of God’s creation in nature, but disregard the spiritual nutrition that is offered to them freely. But the order of giving by Jesus starts with the spiritual. Those who take the spiritual food will grow spiritually and in faith. When the inner man is strong and mature, there would be greater trust in God. Jesus guarantees that if we sit at His feet, we would continue to taste the goodness of the spiritual nourishment that He provides. We will then be committed to live above the material world that tries to entice us. We are guaranteed that if we seek first and foremost after the spiritual things in life, God will provide us with our mundane needs as well. He will not allow the righteous to be forsaken or his children denied bread. Today Jesus entreats us to go to Him with all our intimate spiritual, emotional, social and physical needs as we sit at His green pastures. He will give us what we need at the right time in the right measure which will satisfy our every longing. There is plenty for all who go to Jesus with the right craving. There is a guarantee that what Jesus offers will fully satisfy whereas what the world offers will keep us perennially dissatisfied and spiritually unhealthy. Today is the day of God’s favor for us to go to Him as He waits for all the needy people to draw from His table of blessings and be satisfied.

Psalms 81:10 – Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.  (NLT)

Thought for Today
Meeting and listening to Jesus and partaking of His divine feast lead to full satisfaction of all the innermost longings of a human soul.

FEARLESSNESS OF FAITH!!

Fearlessness of Faith!
Verse for Today: Monday, March 25, 2013
Mark 4:40 – (Jesus) said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

It is sad that even after experiencing the demonstrated power of God power in our lives and that of others and in creation, we slip into unbelief. We might find fault with others for their unbelief and even counsel them when they are weak in faith. But unbelief is possible in our own lives if we take our focus away from Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. God brought us so far through the demonstration of His power in our lives. He sustained us by His mighty hands. He turned events, situations and people around by His power in order to keep us going. So our unbelief breaks the heart of God, especially after we had experienced His deliverance in difficult situations in the past. We can see that unbelief creeps into our hearts when our eyes are fixed on our unfavorable situations and circumstances. If we look at these negative situations, the probable outcomes grip us and take our confidence away. The moment we focus on the storms and the wind, it will captivate our minds to make us conclude that it might devastate us. But when we look at Jesus who is present in our lives and experiences, our fears will disappear. We must also realize that even in the midst of fierce waves and storms which threaten to break our boats, Jesus who is with us in our boats will never permit it. If we reaffirm our faith that He will keep us safe, we would not be fearful of the external storms which try to buffet us. Jesus wants to ask us as to why we are still afraid of the storms around us even after experiencing His power time and again in our lives? Today He examines our hearts and rebukes the waves and winds of fear, unbelief, doubt and anxiety in us.

Dear friend, are you buffeted by the winds of unbelief, doubt and fear in your heart about your present life situation? Are your circumstances so brutal as to appear to devour you in its whirlwind? Are the storms and the winds of the sea of life beating against you from all corners? But remember how you have experienced the hand of God in delivering you from such situations in the past? Do not forget the fact that Jesus is with you in all your life situations and circumstances. He knows the intensity of the wind and the waves that try to devour you. He has not lost His power and strength to deliver you from your fierce circumstances. Today He wants you to examine your heart to see how much you trust in Jesus who is with you. Jesus wants you to focus on Him and not on your external circumstances. He is concerned that you do not destroy your peace through fear and unbelief. He wants to reaffirm His commitment to deliver you from the external dangers and the internal fear, unbelief, doubt and confusion. Each day of your life is filled with His power and strength which delivers you from difficult situations and circumstances. Jesus is committed and faithful to take you forward to your destination victoriously and joyfully. He wants you to believe that you can safely sail with Him through the vast Red Seas, the tumultuous Seas of Galilee and the narrow Jordan Rivers of life. He has promised to take you to your destination and He is faithful to fulfill it as long as you row your boat according to His instruction. So let us sail with Him and experience a joy ride each day with Jesus. Let the whistle of the wind and the roaring of the waves be like musical accompaniments as Jesus takes us through the sea of life with songs of victory in our hearts.

John 14:1 – “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in (Jesus).”

Thought for Today
Faith is the most powerful weapon against unbelief, doubt, fear and anxiety.

CALVARY'S HEALING TOUCH!!

Calvary’ healing touch!
Verse for Today: Sunday, March 24, 2013
Mark 2:17 – On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”

The mission of Jesus is to a world of people who are sick with sin in their souls and subsequently in their bodies. He came to them as the Great Physician who knew their ailments and had the panacea for their infirmities. All the sick that went to Him were healed of their ailments. By going to Him, people acknowledged that they were sick and wanted to be whole. They also acknowledged Jesus as the only true physician who could heal them. He is still the only true physician who Himself is the panacea for all the infirmities of the world. Our world is full of people who are intellectually and emotionally sick, which has led to physical illness as well. Jesus demonstrated that there is permanent cure for sin sickness which is the beginning of emotional and physical healing. Our spiritual healing is eternally secure, but physical and emotional healing will continue as long as we live in the sinful environment. The spiritual healing assures us of a perfect incorruptible body when we reach heaven. But today Jesus offers spiritual healing to all who are willing to admit their sinfulness and acknowledge Him as the Healer. Spiritual healing will lead to emotional healing as it takes away guilt, anxiety and depression and replace it all with faith and trust in Jesus. Today Jesus is willing to touch the lives of all who go to Him with their guilt of sin and confess it. If they acknowledge His death as the means through which they could be forgiven, they will find salvation to their souls. Thus when they are born again as new spiritual persons, their guilt, shame and sinfulness will be replaced with a new life under the control of His Spirit. This new nature will then begin to work on their emotions and bodies. Today Jesus invites all who are sick in their souls, minds and bodies to go to Him and get forgiveness of their sins and to begin a life of healing of their souls and emotions with impact on their bodies as well.

Dear reader, are you seeking intellectual, emotional and physical healing? Have you found religion, good works, pilgrimage and rituals incapable of healing you? Remember, Jesus is the Great Physician who touches your whole person to make you a new creation when you trust Him as your Savior and Lord. If you are finding cure for some physical ailments, you might be sick again. But if your souls are healed of sin sickness, you will be healed eternally. This spiritual healing will lead you to intellectual and emotional healing by giving you divine thinking and eternal bliss to fill your heart and life. Your spiritual healing will definitely work in your bodies to enjoy the touch of Jesus as your bodies are also purchased by Jesus. He will transform it to His likeness as He comes back to take you to be with Him forever. Perhaps your life is filled with tension, pressure, anxiety, worry, anguishes, conflicts and anger which lead to emotional trauma and subsequently affect the functioning of your body and make you sick. But when Jesus touches you and makes you a new person, there is victory over all the emotional and intellectual aberrations which try to shatter you. There is victory for you in all your situations through the grace that is poured into your heart. So you can live without anxiety, worry and apprehensions about your current and future physical and emotional needs. The touch of Jesus will fill you with His joy to strengthen you to keep going forward. Today victory through Jesus awaits you if you willingly submit yourself to Jesus for Him to continue to touch all aspects of your life to lead you to victorious living.

Exodus 15:26 -  …I am the Lord who heals you.

Thought for Today
When Jesus touches us, we accomplish wholeness in our whole being by faith.

PERPETUAL PRESENCE, POWER AND PROVIDENCE!!

Perpetual presence, power and providence!
Verse for Today: Saturday, March 23, 2013
Matthew 28:20 – And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

The presence of Jesus with us is not a promise, but a factual statement. It is not futuristic, but is true in the present continuous state of our lives. Today Jesus is with us is in His person, power and providence. It is uninterrupted, at all times, in all places, circumstances and situations. His presence guarantees His protection, peace and provisions for all our needs. His invisible eyes see us and we are kept in His invisible hands. He is with us when others leave us or forsake us. He is with us in sad as well as happy moments to share our emotions. He watches over us in our battles of life. He equips us to fight our battles and get victory. He is our Shepherd who feeds, guides and counsels us and to give us rest in a restless world. His peace that passes all understanding keeps our hearts and minds from anxiety and doubt. He speaks to us when there is no one for us to speak to. He is our friend in our friendlessness, loneliness and discouragement. He cheers us up when we are sad. He encourages us in our moments of frustration. When we grope in dark moments without hope, He comes to brighten our hope. When we are stuck with no light to go forward, He lightens our pathways. When our horizon is dark and cloudy, His rays of hope break it open and show us rainbows of His promises. When we are losers in this world, He assures us of the gain we have in our account in heaven. It is He who leads us in our adventures of faith and empowers us to attempt great things for Him by faith. It is He who enlightens us to understand the mind of God in His person and plans. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will not change His Word and His character of relentless consistency and reliability. We can count on Him at all times as endeavor to live for Him.

Dear friend, are there moments in your life when you are tempted to doubt whether Jesus is with you? It is likely that you are forsaken by your dear ones and associates. It is possible that you are feeling all alone and frustrated. It is possible that you feel like you are a great failure in life. But Jesus is with you to transform your failure to great success. It is likely that you are hated by others around you, but Jesus is there to show you His abundant love. You might be ditched by friends, but Jesus will be ever close to you at such moments to show His faithfulness and commitment to you. He is absolutely attached to you because He has purchased you with His blood. He treasures you in His heart because you are precious to Him. He who cried seeing the tears of the bereaved sisters at Bethany knows how to transform your tears into abundance of joy. When you are hungry, He is your heavenly bread. When you are parched with thirst, He is your well of living water. He is the good Shepherd who makes sure that you lack nothing that is essential to live to please Him. In all your warfare, He is your commander-in-chief. In your burdens, He is with you at the other end of the yoke. When storms and wind buffet your boat, He is your Anchorman to take you to the other side of the sea of life. When all other things and persons move away, Jesus Christ is the same unchanging presence in all your circumstances and situations to sustain and strengthen you. Open your eyes today and see Him near you to strengthen your faith to keep going when the going gets tough.

Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Thought for Today
The unchanging Jesus is your Anchorman to take you across the sea of life through the storms, waves and winds of life.

COMFORT FROM CALVARY!!

Comfort from Calvary!
Verse for Today: Friday, March 22, 2013
Matthew 27:48 – One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to (Jesus) on a reed stick so He could drink.  (NLT)

The world which persecuted the Son of God offered Him intoxicating drink to reduce the effect of pain. They had only brutality to reciprocate for His goodness. He was about to die for their sins, but even at that point, they only responded with greater brutality. Today the world has nothing better to offer His followers for all the good that they do for them. We live in an ungrateful world which persecutes God’s children who do good. Charity and humanitarian acts done by God’s people all around the world are rarely gratefully acknowledged. Instead, the world tries to burn them down. When God uses His children to release sinners from the bondage of sin and Satan, the world responds with intimidation, persecution and oppression. Whatever the world did to Jesus is done to us also in some measure. They hate us because they hate our Lord. They forget all the good things we do for them just as they forgot all the wonderful things Jesus did for the people. We find such opposition and oppression in our work places, educational institutions, neighborhoods, families and churches. The world inflicts pain on us and then tries to intoxicate us with its goodies from the Vanity Fair so that we would take our focus away from persecution and continue in a semi-conscious state. The physical, emotional and social persecutions we encounter drain our strength to keep going. But we are most affected when the people whom we love most inflict great emotional wounds on us. During such painful moments, we can draw upon the grace that we find on the cross of our Lord and respond with love. If we pray for them, as our Lord did, it would help us to get emotional healing and physical well-being. Job experienced special blessings as he prayed for his friends who found fault with him in times of sufferings. Stephen and Paul also prayed for their oppressors as they learned this great lesson from Calvary. Today we are challenged by the love of God demonstrated on Calvary to pray for grace to forgive our oppressors.

Dear friend, are you experiencing oppression and brutality from those whom you love and cherish? You might be publicly being crucified by the dearest and the nearest because you become an inconvenience for them. Perhaps your stand for righteousness and truth may not be appealing to them anymore. But remember, you are called upon to suffer for the Lord who endured shame and scorn for you. He carried the cross for you without any embarrassment. He went through excruciating pain and agony for you. At the peak of merciless abuse, torture and violation of rights, our Lord prayed that His Father in heaven forgive His persecutors. If you are experiencing untold brutality in the hands of those around you, the place to go for peace, grace, relief and healing is Calvary where you will find your suffering Savior as the Balm of Gilead. He will give you the same grace that He gave Stephen and Paul, to pray for those who brutally malign you. The grace showered upon you from Calvary will heal your emotional and physical infirmities and make you whole again. Because Jesus has forgiven you, it is possible for you to impart forgiveness to those who malign you. You might be all alone in your sufferings, but the Lord will give you sweet fellowship and fill your heart with the peace that He experienced on the cross. Let us keep away from the intoxicating goods from the Vanity Fair and drink from the cool streams of our Shepherd to rest in His presence in the midst of adversity and oppression.

2 Timothy 4:16 – At my first defense, no-one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.

Thought for Today
Jesus comes to us in the loneliest and darkest moments of our lives to give us comfort, peace and rest.

PRAYER BY FAITH!!

Prayer by faith!
Verse for Today: Thursday, March 21, 2013
Matthew 21:22 – If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Faith and prayer are intertwined in essence and practice. Without faith, prayer becomes ritual. Without prayer, faith is baseless. Only a heart of faith will pray and a praying heart will develop faith. There are people who try to convert their faith into action without prayer. Faith and prayer go hand in hand because we can meaningfully pray only when we have faith. But our faith is not based on powerful and loud prayer, but in God whose power we depend on for answers. So it is imperative that we fortify our faith with the mind of God in all that we pray for. As we speak to Him about our needs, situations, problems, conflicts and anxieties, God will focus our minds on His will in it. So when we go to Him in prayer, we must go without preconceived answers unlike Prophet Balaam. Thus when we dwell in prayer, God will speak to our hearts about His will in our concerns. God’s transforming power will then fix His answers in our hearts and will encourage us to pray accordingly. It is at such times that we can pray specifically by faith about a matter for which the answer becomes absolutely sure. This was the truth about prayer that Jesus demonstrated to His disciples throughout the 42 months of His public ministry and thus captivated their hearts to ask Him to teach them to pray. Today we are challenged by God to go to Him with our needs and burdens and speak to Him about it. We pour our hearts out and exercise our faith to ask God to remove our burdens and meet our needs. He will honor our faith, no matter how feeble it might be, and will answer us for the praise of His name.

Dear friend, do you ever wonder why your prayers are not answered the way you wanted? Does it confuse you about the link between your prayer and your faith? We must understand that faith is a gift that we receive from God as we synchronize our minds with that of God through regular and continuous meditation on His person, promises and power. It is then that we will know His perfect will about all that we pray for. Our meditating heart must find rest in His presence as we pray about all our needs, burdens and situations. When we are in His green pastures, His Spirit will enlighten us about what He intends in our situations. He speaks to us on the basis of His written Word and enlightens us through His Spirit to make us understand His mind about His plans for us. As we believe it, faith is generated and strengthened in our hearts to enable us to pray while He fulfills it in our lives. Often the hindrance in receiving answers to prayer is the unconfessed sins of omissions and commissions in our lives. If we have grieved or quenched the Spirit of God, we won’t be exercised to know the mind of God in our prayer life. As we live a life of continuous confession and repentance and live in regular unhindered fellowship with God, He will reveal His mind on the matters that we speak to Him about. He will then give us the transforming power of His Spirit to understand and acknowledge His will. It is at that time that we will be able to pray by faith and believe that it shall be done in Christ. Today God challenges us to get to know His mind and will through a repentant life of meditation on and fellowship with Him. He waits for us to get right with Him without prejudices and angularities and be strengthened in our faith to pray and receive answers from Him.

Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Thought for Today
Prayer without faith is worthless and faith without prayer is illusion, but when they work together, there will be showers of blessings.

RESHAPING FAITH!!

Reshaping faith!
Verse for Today: Wednesday, March 20, 2013
Matthew 19:26 – Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Man has a lot of limitations in the exercise of his power. Even though he has certain abilities, these are limited to the physical realm of life. Most of the things man attempts ends up in chaos because of his physical and mental limitations. The more he tries to resolve his problems, the greater are the complications he ends up with. This is why God asks man to turn his life over to Him to shape it according to His will. Those who willingly submit themselves to God will find their lives regenerated, revived and restored by Him through His Spirit. God has the power to do anything that He desires in this world and in the lives of people. He is all-powerful and Almighty, but His dealings with man are out of compassion and grace. It is God who opens the doors of heaven for man to enter and helps man to accomplish God’s purpose in his life. Anything that man does without God’s strength will end up in failure. So God comes to ask man to submit himself to Him so that He can change man’s life and perspectives to use him to accomplish His plan in and through man. Man can only try to imitate and camouflage divine things, but it will not bring forth any godly outcome. Man’s self improvement plans will only be like that of the magicians of Egypt who tried to perform the miracles that Moses did.  But if we hand our brokenness, strife, failures, losses and defeats over to God, He will take it and make something wonderful and marvelous out of it. Today God challenges us to hand our impossible situations over to Him to reshape, revive and rebuild it for His glory.

Dear friend, are you confronted with complicated situations which are impossible for you to turn around? Are the consequences of your impossible situations frightening you? Have you encountered defeat, failure and loss in your life? But you don’t have to lose hope and give up. Today God comes to ask you to willingly submit your cluttered and cloudy situations to Him and ask Him to reshape it. He will solve your puzzles and turn your hopelessness into prospects for your good and His glory. He who rebuilt the burned up walls and gates of Jerusalem can rebuild your life also. He who picked up the pieces of the ruined lives of Rehab, Ruth, Hanna, Mary Magdalene and Onesimus will rebuild your life also. When God takes over the ash heaps of your past, He will convert it into heaps of blessings. He can use your revived life as a door for others to enter His presence. He will wipe your tears and turn your countenance into joy unspeakable.  If you think that you are in an impossible situation, you have the privilege, freedom and opportunity to hand it over to God and see how He turns it into great accomplishments for Him. Don’t jump into write it off, but jump into the bandwagon of faith in God and rewrite your future. It was God who made a few fishermen to turn the world upside down for Him. It was God who made the forgotten Joseph to become the savior of nations and the pathway to sustaining God’s plan of redemption.  It was God who cleaned up the wicked earth and turned it into a fresh and fertile place for man to live after the flood. It was God who made a lamb out of the lion-like Saul of Tarsus. It was God who made a prince out of the schemer Jacob. The same God is ready, willing and able to take the rags of your life and turn it into a sweet smelling flowerpot. It is impossible for you to accomplish it, but it is possible for God if you are willing to hand it over to Him.

Luke 1:37 – For nothing is impossible with God.

Thought for Today
Faith turns man’s impossibilities into God’s possibilities.

TRAMPLING BY FAITH!!

Trampling by faith!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, March 19, 2013
Matthew 14:24 – But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

God wants His children to know, believe and experience His presence, peace and protection in times of trouble. He tempers our life of faith by allowing us to go through high waves and powerful wind which beat against our boat in the sea of life. He shows that His power rules and overrules the contrary wind the waves in our difficult circumstances and gives us confidence and courage to keep going. Often a great victory is followed with more intense test to see whether our faith has grown stronger. It is most likely that after feeding thousands with meager means, the disciples would not have expected such a fearful situation. When He was not physically with them for a time, they seemed to have lost all hope and courage. They found no escape as they were far away from the shore. Their fear overpowered their hearts to cry out in utter hopelessness. But Jesus goes to them even through the wind and the waves. When they were filled with fear and hopelessness, He strengthened them. He was their fence around them. He demonstrated to them how to walk by faith in fierce situations. He once again proved to them that He would not forsake them in times of trouble. He showed them that the mighty wind would obey His feet as He walked over the sea billows. But their greatest failure was that they couldn’t recognize their Lord in the midst of the turbulence. Today Jesus is with us in His mighty presence when we are buffeted by the wind and waves of circumstances. He comes to us in the fourth watch when no one else is around to hear our loud cries. He is not far away, but is near to us, with us and around us. The calamities created by the powers of darkness will not touch us because God keeps us under His wings. The wind might beat against us, but it cannot beat us because we dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.

Dear friend, are you buffeted and battered by the winds and the waves of the sea of life? Are there calamities beating against you at unexpected times to create great fear in your mind? Are you far away from any place or person to get any help? But you will be in for great astonishment when your Lord appears to you in the midst of it all. He comes to reassure you and strengthen your faith. He comes to dispel your fear and anxiety. He comes to fill your heart with His peace which surpasses all understanding. He shows you how the wind and the waves obey Him. He demonstrates how He tramples over the waves of the sea and walks over it. Yes, our Lord has a pathway for us to walk by faith over the mightiest waves of the sea of life. Jesus reassures us today that with Him we can trample over the buffeting situations of life. The fierce wind and the shattering waves will come and go, but the Lord Jesus will not leave us. His mighty presence encompasses around us to protect us from all evil. He proves to us that we can trust Him fully in all our circumstances and situations no matter how fierce it might be. Perhaps your situation might be dark and filled with the sound of the blowing fierce wind and the soaring billows of the sea of life. But your beloved Lord is with you to give you courage to keep going without fear or doubt. He will protect you and preserve you with His sustaining grace. Today His grace is sufficient for you to face your difficult circumstances and to come out victorious.

Matthew 14:27 – But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Thought for Today
God is nearer to us than any other trouble we might encounter.

CHANNEL OF MULTIPLIED BLESSINGS!!

Channel of multiplied blessings!
Verse for Today: Monday, March 18, 2013
Matthew 14:18 – And (Jesus) said, “Bring (the five loaves and two fish) here to Me.”

It is pertinent for us to realize that Jesus knows what we have with us that He can use. He expects us to give it to Him so that He can make it to bless others. Our acknowledgment of what we have is often our expression of worthlessness unless Jesus blessed it. But Jesus tells us that He can make use of it no matter how worthless or insignificant it is. When we confess our inadequacy, He will counsel us to submit it to Him to multiply it. He knows that if we keep it, it will go stale or waste. Often our unwillingness to surrender our meager means to Jesus is because of our insecurity about our present and future needs. But God doesn’t want us to selfishly hold on to what He has entrusted with us as stewards and custodians. We are to confess ourselves as faithful stewards and be willing to give it back to the One who entrusted it with us. Our meager means in our own hands will have its limitations, but when it is passed on to Jesus, it will have far reaching impact on other lives. If we willingly submit our meager means to Jesus without grumbling, He will show us to our amazement how He will multiply and use it to meet great needs. Thus our meager means will bring great joy to those who enjoy it. What Jesus does with what we give back to Him will strengthen the faith of all who witness His great ministry of enlargement. Today Jesus is asking us to give all that we have to Jesus for Him to bless and use it for His glory. Let us willingly and joyfully give it back to Him and watch what He will do with it. By heeding to Jesus, we will not be deprived but will be enriched. We get enough and more for our use and so many others will be impacted at the same time.

Dear friend, are you using all your treasures, talents and time for Jesus? Have you handed it all over to Him to use it as it pleases Him? The transfer of all that you have to Jesus is the mark of true discipleship. If there is anything in your life that is not yet handed over to Jesus, it means that you are keeping His assets for yourself. It might also mean that what you have is not given to you by Jesus. If you keep it to yourself, it will be eaten away by moths, rust and inflation or taken away by thieves. Jesus doesn’t want it if you are unwilling to entrust it with Him joyfully. He has other means to bless His people, but you will miss the opportunity to cause it if you don’t give what has been entrusted with you. Today Jesus is asking you to give Him all your earthly treasures, talents and time. If you have special skills and expertise, He can use it also. If you have spare time after meeting all your justifiable obligations in life, He can use it to touch other lives for Him. If you give willingly and voluntarily, Jesus will bless it and use it for the spiritually hungry and thirsty people around.  It also goes in your account in heaven for which a reward will follow. As you do it, you will also be one of those sitting at the banquet in the desert to satisfy yourself. Will you refuse Jesus His assets that He has entrusted with you? Will you become a channel of blessings for Jesus?

2 Corinthians 9:7 – Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Thought for Today
God proved His love to us by giving us what we didn’t’ deserve, but we prove our love to Him by giving what He truly deserves from us.

GOD'S YOKEFELLOWS!!

God’s yokefellows!
Verse for Today: Sunday, March 17, 2013
Matthew 11:30 – For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. (NLT)

The world tries to bind us with it through the seemingly attractive yokes of materialism, lust and pride. Once we are bound to it, we will be its slaves which will ruin our lives and testimony. The greatest buffer against the slavery of the world is to take the yoke of love offered by Jesus. What Jesus offers is partnership in yoke bearing. His yoke binds us with Him to walk together. It is the yoke of discipleship with which we become true followers of the One who had no place to lay His head when foxes had their holes and birds had their nests. Our loving willingness to bear His yoke is a response to the love He demonstrated for us on the cross of Calvary. When we are thus strongly bonded with Jesus, whatever that we willingly give up for Him is easy for us to bear because it is a mark of our love for Him. Thus the spiritual burdens of reproach, rejection and ridicule for Jesus will be as light as feather. The earthly burdens seem enjoyable, but the slavery it produces is unbearable and suffocating. It never satiates us and makes us want more of it and thus tightens its rope around our neck. The world’s yokes are not to help us, but to destroy us. It has ruined the lives of people like Lot, Korah, Miriam, Gehazi, Achan, Balaam, Demas and Judas Iscariot. When the world tries to trap us into its evil bondage, Jesus lovingly and passionately invites us to take His yoke and burden as He partners with us to bear it joyfully. Our bondage with Jesus will thus make us like Him as His true disciples.

Dear friend, are you experiencing rejection, reviling, resentment, ridicule, persecution, loss and maligning because of Jesus? Only when you bend down can the yoke be placed on your shoulders. Such humility will be like losing your dignity and status as a human being. You might be denied your rights just as Jesus was denied His rights. But He kept quiet and suffered it all for you without reacting or using His power. When you bear the yoke of Jesus, you are not bearing it all alone because He partners with you and gives you the grace to bear it. If you truly love Him more than anything or anyone else in this world, it would be felt light and easy. You will then consider it a great privilege to bear the yoke and the burden of the cross for Him. It will be felt like it is for a short time just as Jacob served Laban for Rachel for fourteen long years. The camel ride of Rebekah for almost three months was exciting because she was taking this tiring journey to meet Isaac whom she had known only by faith. Today we are called upon to experience the denial of our rights and dignity for the sake of Jesus. It involves bluntly rejecting and refusing the possessions, positions, prestige, privileges and prominence the world offers us. As we bear His yoke and burdens, He gives us His strength to bear it. He makes sure to comfort us when we are battered by anguish as we are rejected by the world because of Him. When we thus become bonded with Jesus, the world will find us an inconvenience and will try to get rid of us and hurt us. That’s when we experience the joy of rejection and the thrill of being resented and ridiculed by the world.  Today Jesus is asking us to keep bending down so that we can continue to be partners with Him in bearing His yoke and burdens without grumbling.

Psalms 55:22 – Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.  (NASB)

Thought for Today
God’s participation in our burdens will lighten it and make it enjoyable and dignified.

CARE AND WATCHFULNESS!!

Care and watchfulness!
Verse for Today: Saturday, March 16, 2013
Matthew 10:30 – And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

It is fascinating to realize how much God knows about His children. He knows us so well as to even know the number of hairs on our heads. It is far more fascinating to know that one of these hairs will not fall to the ground without God’s knowledge and permission. Such is the care our Father in heaven has for us and our affairs. Nothing happens to us without His knowledge and permission. Sometimes He allows things to happen to us which are not pleasant. But God allows it in our lives with an eternal purpose which is always for our good. Those things which are not good in itself will work together for our good and will meet His eternal purpose in and through us. The famine during Joseph’s time in the various countries was bad for the people. But God worked it out for Joseph’s dreams to come true. It gave Egyptians a great ruler in Joseph with wisdom to manage the sufferings arising from drought and famine well. But it also created the avenue for Jacob and his whole family to move to Egypt along with a wonderful reunion with Joseph. It created the setting for Jacob to die as a contended man. It was God’s way to preserve His eternal plan of redemption for mankind. A terrible storm and subsequent events brought Prophet Jonah to repentance which led to his preaching in Nineveh and to the repentance of the people. Storms, waves and wind built up the faith and confidence of the disciples. Threats and dangers enhanced the faith of David to keep writing several Psalms of faith which God’s people sing through the centuries. So we know that even if a single hair falls to the ground, our God knows about it as He causes it to happen with a great purpose. He will guard us from getting hurt from it all and will keep us going for His glory.

Dear friend, are you perplexed about the many seemingly unpleasant experiences you have been going through lately? Have these events been causing pain and heartache for you? These experiences would have they been emotionally and physically costly? But Jesus wants you to understand that He knows all about it which is a great consolation. He knows you well and will not allow any untoward thing to happen to you. He will not permit others to touch you and will protect you under His wings. He knows all your weaknesses, shortages, lapses, failures and losses and works in you to get victory over all your predicaments. If He allows some losses in your life, He will make sure to have some gains in the spiritual realm to compensate for what is lost. He wants you to learn that your spiritual gain is far more important than the physical because the physical will pass away but the spiritual will remain with you forever. But that doesn’t mean that God will not take care of you in the physical realm. He knows your body and mind well enough to take care of any gaps. All that happens to you will aid in your spiritual growth and development. When the physical and emotional realms are attacked by the enemy, God will give you spiritual fervor to deal with the attacks. You will then be able to sing for joy as Paul and Silas did in the prison or as David did even in the wilderness when he was running for life. Today God reassures you that He knows your physical and emotional needs so well and that He will care for you because you are precious to Him. He challenges you to trust Him for all your physical and emotional needs and sustain you in His grace to live for His glory as a shining witness for Him.

Psalms 121:7 – The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life.

Thought for Today
The God who accounts for your hair keeps your body, emotions, life and spirit from all harm.
