UNSEEN AND UNHEARD!!

Unseen and unheard!
Verse for Today: Saturday, November 17, 2012

Joshua 24:13 – So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.

The goodness of God is beyond measure and expectations. He gives to His children in a way that is far superior to what any other source would give. When He gives, He doesn’t expect anything in return except a grateful heart from us. He acts in such an unprecedented speed for His children to enjoy His favors. He prepares all that His children need at the right time. When Prophet Elijah was hungry, his meals were ready at the right time. It included the kind of menu that would be cherished by anyone in the land. When the banquet hall at Cana was short of wine, it was made available by the Lord Jesus at the right quantity and quality with the best of taste, to the amazement of all the guests. A small measure of bread was enough for Him to feed thousands of people to their satisfaction. He provided ready made food for the Israelites for forty long years in the most difficult place like a desert. He produced the best drinking water for two million people and their cattle at the split second. God’s children had readied farm land, cities and houses to dwell in and sweetest grapes and nourishing olive fruit to eat. All of these provisions show us the great heart of concern and care that God has for His children. God’s provisions often take His children by surprise because they are far beyond expectation and often above reason and logic because it emanates from God’s heart full of love and concern for His children. These provisions are beyond what any eyes have seen or ears have heard. Today He meets our daily physical, emotional and spiritual needs far beyond measure or expectation.

Dear reader, are you walking along with the Lord with the expectation that He will meet all your needs? You will not be disappointed in any way because what He gives will be beyond your expectations. Perhaps what He gives may not be what you expect and sometimes you will feel frustrated that you are not given what you desired. But eventually you will learn great lessons about the heart of God with which He gives you His best at His best time. Along with that, He gives you patience, maturity, joy and faith to keep trusting Him for what He will give you. God has best interest in our affairs and He will meet it all in the best possible manner. He uses the seemingly insignificant agents to supply your needs. He sends your food through a raven and employs a few servants to serve the best of wine. His instrument for getting water out of a rock is a wooden staff and not a sharp metallic instrument. A simple sharp stone from the field is sufficient for Him to bring down the tallest and most powerful soldier who tries to devour you. He uses a fish to teach you great lessons in your life of faith and obedience. Even the most basic cereals will make His children stronger than their contemporaries who eat the best of the royal gourmet. Yes, our God is the great supplier of our needs in the most unimaginable manner to meet our every need provided we are willing to put our faith in His capacity and willingness to give us. This God is with you today to meet all your needs if only you are willing to take the risk of believing on Him and put all your faith and trust in Him.

1 Corinthians 2:9 – No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.

Thought for Today
God’s provisions are a measure of His heart full of concern and care for His children.

GOD'S WAR INSTRUMENT!!

God’s war instrument!
Verse for Today: Friday, November 16, 2012
Joshua 10:42 – All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.

When God works for His people, they are mere instruments in His hands. He uses them at the right time in the right way to work for Him. He controls their movements and actions. He directs their pathways to go forward to destroy the enemy and capture the promises given to them. But the enemy tries to prevent God’s people from moving forward. The enemy creates obstructions, hindrances and blockages on their way and intimidates them through fears and phobias. The enemy will try to show them the fierce consequences if they move forward on God’s pathways. He will try to discourage God’s people and give them words of worldly wisdom which might give them seemingly smarter ways. But the end of it will be destruction. But God leads His children in mysterious ways. He gives them victory over fiercest attacks of the enemy. He goes before His children and fight for them. He gives them confidence and courage to move forward even when the way seems rugged and rough. When we march forward, we would see that our Lord has gone before us to prepare our way. He watches over us and protects us from every evil move of the enemy. He uses us to fight the enemy. When we are unwilling to relent in the wake of all the obstructions the enemy creates, it shocks the enemy to retreat. But he will reemerge at unexpected times to intimidate us. But our Lord is the victor over all the wiles of the enemy and will defeat his every move. We know this by faith and such faith is in the power of our Lord who helps us to trust Him to get greater victory as days go by. Our war is His war and all our battles are His. Our victory is His victory with His means which include us as His warriors.

Dear readers, when you win a battle in your life of faith, know for sure that your Lord has secured this victory through His mighty power.  His power and strength are demonstrated through the way He handles our enemies who are primarily His enemies. When God fights our battles, He uses us as instruments to fight the enemy. Perhaps today your cluttered circumstances can be your enemy as the enemy of your soul would have tried to darken your situations. But your Lord brightens your dark pathways with His light. When the enemy takes away what belongs to you, the Lord comes to supply your every need. When you are deprived of your legitimate rights, the Lord gives you greater privileges in His presence to enjoy. The Lord fights your discouragement and anxiety by strengthening your faith to trust Him for your every situation. He fights your physical ailments with the Balm of Gilead. When the enemy shuts your legitimate doors, the Lord comes to open it for you which no man can shut. When you fight the enemy of grief, the Lord comes to give you hope against hope. When the enemy makes you lonely, the Lord comes to give you new friends and fill your vacuum with Himself. When you are emotionally weak, He comes to fill you with His Spirit so that you will have the strength from the joy of the Lord. In poverty, He will feed you with the heavenly bread and quench your every thirst with His Spirit and Word. You are challenged today to be a fit instrument in His hands. He wants you to be His weapon of faith to fight the Goliaths and enemy kings. Our battles in life belong to the Lord and our victory comes from Him day by day.

Deuteronomy 1:30 – The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as He did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert.

Thought for Today
Every physical, emotional and carnal enemy will be subdued by the Lord for His children.

WARRIORS AND VICTORS OF FAITH!!

Warriors and victors of faith!

Verse for Today: Thursday, November 15, 2012
Joshua 10:8 – The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hands. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”

The life of a child of God is crowded with a series of battles one after the other. Sometimes the enemy sends one strong king to fight us, but at other times he sends a group of his stalwart kings to intimidate us. When the enemy finds that we are growing stronger in our faith, he takes extra effort to defeat us. His agents who act like kings rule over the lives of so many and keep them as their slaves. But our God does not want us be defeated by them. He wants us to be overcomers. We shouldn’t be afraid of these kings because our King is greater than all of them put together. The enemy kings who attack us include fear, anxiety, frustration, doubt and faithlessness. But we have God’s ammunition of faith with us to fight our battles against these psychological enemies. Our God has given us His whole armor which protects us from all the darts of the enemy. When these kings send their fiery darts, we must handle them with the shield of faith so as to prevent it from penetrating our hearts and minds. We must also use the Sword of the Lord to destroy these darts which are intended to devour and destroy us. We must pray for spiritual energy to hold the shield firmly in our hands and to use the Sword skillfully. We must also handle these enemies of our soul at the right time rather than waiting indefinitely and wasting strategic opportunities. Like Abraham, we should redeem even the night to engage the enemy. When the first five enemies are defeated, there will emerge other kings like envy, competition, irritation, confusion, suspicion, intimidation, false accusations, false propaganda, distortion and character assassination. We need to continue to use the whole armor of God to defeat these enemies one after the other so that we will have total victory and corresponding peace and rest.

Dear reader, are you confronted by the enemy kings of your soul to wage psychological warfare against you? These enemies come when it is dark and when you least expect them. You need to handle all of them perpetually as they keep coming back to defeat you. There is no need for you to be discouraged or afraid of these enemies.  You are to fight these enemies from victory which is already given to you positionally.  It is time to claim and appropriate the victory over all these enemies by faith. You must handle these enemies one after the other. But when they come together with multiplicity of strength, we must handle them collectively. You must guard against any temptation to use weapons of flesh against these enemies because you will then be definitely defeated. You also should not allow yourselves to be tempted to wrestle against flesh and blood, but should always wrestle against your real enemies only. When the darts of the enemy come to hit you, use the shield of faith to protect yourself with one hand and use the Sword of the Lord in the other hand to cut the dart into pieces. Our enemies of anxiety, doubt, suspicion, frustration and fear try to subdue us and to make us trip and fall. But we must stand strong on the Rock so that our feet will not be shaken. You must face these darts with determination to destroy it in the name of your Lord and enjoy total victory. Today you are fighting on the side of the Lord who is the Victor. In His strength you can defeat all the enemies and march from victory to victory.

2 Chronicles 20:15 – This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s’.

Thought for Today
Our surrender to the Lord will make us fit instruments in His hands to fight battles against the darts of unbelief, fear, anxiety, doubt, confusion, frustration and irritation.

FRESH MANNA VS. MOLDED BREAD!!

Fresh manna vs. molded bread!
Verse for Today: Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Joshua 9:14 – The men of Israel sampled (Gibeonites’) provisions but did not inquire of the Lord.

It is important for God’s people to learn to inquire of the Lord when they take each step of the way on their walk to the Promised Land. The enemy will try to get into our ranks to weaken us and to ultimately defeat us. The Gibeonites might not pose any immediate threat, but their presence among them will ultimately divide the nation of Israel. They will come with great tactics to weaken God’s people. God had already warned His people to beware of the subtle ways of the enemy to weaken them. It seems the Israelites were easily attracted by the dry and moldy food of the enemy and were tempted to try it out. They were also trapped by the seemingly nice words of the enemy and fell for it. But they forgot to ask of the Lord who would have told them what to do. Even the leaders like Joshua fell for the schemes of the Gibeonites and entered into a treaty with them. Today the enemy comes to God’s people to attract them with moldy methods, approaches and styles in our personal lives and ministries. We are tempted to fall for their dry and molded techniques in our work for the Lord. As a result, our lives become dry and molded, with the foul worldly smell. But little do we realize that these are all anathema to the Lord. He has already given His people a new heart with Spirit-controlled methods for life and ministry. But the sensational appeal of the enemy is powerful to tempt and make us fall for it. The enemy’s approaches become appealing to our eyes and ears and we surrender our senses to these new methods and forget to ask our Lord for direction and guidance.  Today we are warned to beware of the subtleties of the enemy and to keep away from their ways lest we fall.

Dear reader, are you aware of the strategies of the enemy to trap you with his ungodly ways and means? The enemy comes with unimaginable subtleties and attractive words. He tries to trap us with his dry and moldy means and tempt us to taste it. Our anxious souls might be tempted to taste it, but we need to first ask our Lord for guidance before taking the first step. The Israelites would have at least heard about Manna and the ways of the Lord to feed and quench them. When the enemy comes to knock at the doors of our hearts and offers dry and molded materials from his arsenal, we must stop for a moment and inquire of the Lord. We should have the spiritual tenacity to refuse to even taste their spoiled food which would damage our souls. Let us depend on our Lord to give us what we need to eat and drink, as He has done in the past. He has promised to give us our daily bread and it was He who gave us our necessities until yesterday. What the enemy offers is only for a few days, but our Lord’s supplies will never get exhausted. So let us trust Him to continue to give us our basic needs as we fight spiritual wars for Him. He will not disappoint us nor will He embarrass us in the presence of our enemies. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. His table is full of heavenly blessings and we will not lack any good thing. Let us forsake the dry and molded means of the world. Let our eyes be always upon the Lord and His provisions which will come at the right time to feed us and our families as we continue to strive for Him.

Psalms 104:28 – When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

Thought for Today

The heavenly feast that our Lord spreads before us each day gives us far greater satisfaction and nourishment than any dry and molded means the world offers.

LESSONS FROM SETBACKS!!

Lessons from setbacks!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Joshua 7:7 – And Joshua said, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, why did You ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!

Past victory is often forgotten at the time of failures. These setbacks send powerful psychological blow to God’s people and often lead them into despondency. But God wants the intoxication of praise at the time of victory to lead His people even through failures and teach them lessons. Failure is not a time to get depressed, but to lead us to introspection. We must understand that one victory in one situation is no guarantee that we will be perpetually victorious. Victory demands that we rely on the Lord at all times. One victory doesn’t mean that we take the future battles for granted. Our failures are often because we defeat ourselves. Overconfidence is a byproduct of our dependence on our own strength and past experience. God wants us to depend on Him irrespective of past victories. Each battle has to be won in our trust in the strength of our God and not in self confidence. Victory in battles demands continuous surrender to the Lord. Our victory has to be the Lord’s victory through us as His instruments. Setbacks necessitate reexamination of all our instruments, to make sure that they are spiritual and not of the flesh. If we use instruments of selfishness and disobedience, we are bound to lose. If we want to be victorious, we must declare ourselves incompetent and unworthy. If we encounter failure, we must take a look at our track record of self will, overconfidence, pride, arrogance and disobedience. If we confess our lack of trust and disobedience, God will give us victory in our battles. One failure should not tempt us to condemn the pathway that our Lord has made us to walk so far, but to get back to walk worthy of the call with which we are called. We must not forget the fact that disobedience can cause even Joshua, Abraham or Jacob to taste failure.

Hello soldier, have you experienced failure in your walk lately? Perhaps you never expected to taste failure. Perhaps you thought God will help you to ride on the chariot of victory perpetually! Perhaps in your spiritual enthusiasm, you would have forgotten that a loving Father will also chastise His beloved children by permitting setbacks in life. It is important to realize that God uses failure sometimes to teach His children valuable lessons in life. If you have tasted failure in your job situation, business, relationships, family life, church life or in personal life of devotion, it is time to examine the possible reasons for it. This is not the time to get frustrated, but to find the reasons for the setback and how to straighten out your life. It is time to renew your commitment and devotion to the Lord. It is an opportunity to check out any element of rebellion, disobedience, overconfidence, pride and lack of trust in your life. God expects brokenness in your life so that He can rebuild you His way.  You need to cry before God and confess the failures in your personal life. But it should not sink you into frustration. It is important to guard your mind and tongue not to utter unfortunate expression as Joshua did. Jacob had such frustrating words in His mouth and he lived in depression for over thirteen years while God was preparing his situation to lead him to victory. Israel’s setback at Ai speaks to us loudly about the failures which emerge in our lives if we deviate from the path of obedience and surrender. Today we are challenged to look into our hearts and straighten out our lives rather than sink deep into frustration. We are challenged to move from failure and setback to victory and jubilation by recommitting ourselves. God wants confession and repentance from us before He allows victory again in our lives. When we deal with disobedience in our lives, God will work in us to march forward from victory to victory.

1 John 5:4 – This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Thought for Today

God uses our setbacks in life to teach us lessons in obedience, trust, commitment and surrender so that we can march from failures to victory.

ENCIRCLE, SHOUT AND CAPTURE!!

Encircle, shout and capture!

Verse for Today: Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Joshua 6:20 – When the trumpet sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city.

The defense experts of modern days will marvel at the way God helps His children to capture territories. When the joy of the Lord is their strength, and as they shout in the name of their Lord, He uses their sounds and shouts of faith to crumble even the strongest walls. When God’s people believe on His Word without doubt or questioning, God makes things happen in their lives even without using their hands. They need to exercise their hearts which emanate faith in the power of their God. Their soldiers were ready with swords, but those swords were to destroy the flesh of the land. They saw to it that they walked behind the Ark with full obedience. The Ark was their hope and trust because the glory of the Lord dwelt in the Ark. It was not a march to fight, but to claim victory. They started from victory and attained greater victory. They walked by faith and believed that God had delivered the land into their hands even before they started. They obeyed the commands of God in walking thirteen times in a week without questioning the logic for simply walking around their object. But as they walked, their God walked with them and before them. He proved to them once again that His victory is not with sword, chariots and horses, but with His mighty hands of power and strength which He demonstrates for His children in their varying situations. Today this God of ours is walking with us and in front of us as we face seemingly insurmountable walls, fortresses, seas, storms and waves. His command for us today is to walk with Him and be a miracle. He wants us to trust Him wholeheartedly and walk boldly. When we thus walk by faith, the world around us might make fun of us for our illogical methods and blind trust in God for all our situations. Our walk of faith is for us to get victory and it is at the same time a great message for the onlookers to see and believe what our God can do for us as well. We are invited today to walk with Him to enjoy His blessings and victory.

Dear reader, are you bewildered by seeing great stone walls in front of you? Do you ever wonder how you would move forward because of the formidable opposition that you face? But you need to realize that your God knows all about the obstruction and has a plan to circumvent it. He goes before you and walks in front of you. His glory is your escort and it is His glory that leads you from the front. Just as you followed God’s glory in your desert experiences in the past, you need to walk behind and in the shadow of His glory now and claim victory in His name. As you claim it for the Lord, you need to appropriate it by faith. When you believe that God has given you victory in your difficult situation, start with praise and shouts of joy. With such shouts of victory, go forward to capture and possess the new territory for God. This victory that God gives you over the opposition is opportunity that is spread before you. It need not be simply a psychological feeling, but a physical reality in your everyday life. As you capture the new opportunity, all flesh and fleshly temptations must be destroyed and all valuable material must be kept for God. If you keep the flesh and the valuables for yourself, God would be displeased. He wants to give you things which are far above what any one has seen, heard or thought about. Today if you are facing insurmountable situations in life and if you find it invincible, don’t simply walk around in desperation.  Your God wants you to capture it by faith as you walk with Him and shout victory in His name.

Psalms 89:15 – Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O Lord, they walk in the light of your countenance.

Thought for Today

God’s people who walk along with His glory and the sound of His trumpet will produce His joyful sound of victory.

FAITH THAT CONFRONTS HINDRANCES!!

 Faith that confronts hindrances!

Verse for Today: Tuesday, November 06, 2012

Joshua 4:23 – The Lord your God did to the Jordan just what He had done to the Red Sea when He dried it up before us until we had crossed over.

God works in different ways in our affairs based on the intensity of our needs and situations. He does what is essential to keep us going in times of trouble. He acts at the right time to remove hindrances to help us tread smoothly. He interferes in nature and reverses its course to facilitate forward thrust for us. He removes fear of the hindrance from our hearts and eyes. His miracles are qualitatively and quantitatively sufficient to meet with every blockage that the enemy brings on our pathway. He demonstrated His great power to divide the Red Sea to make dry ground for His people to cross over. Compared to that, crossing over Jordan was much simpler. But unless the hindrance was removed, God’s people couldn’t cross over. God taught them that He was available for their great and small needs at the right time and place. He speaks to us today that He is available and sufficient to meet all our simple and complex. When the hindrance is removed, it would always cause us to give Him thanks because He has done what was seemingly impossible. We know how our faculties fail us in front of even the smallest hindrance. But trusting God to remove the hindrance means that we leave it to Him and wait for His orders. Sometimes He gives us a part to play in it like the role of Moses to use his staff or the stepping in of the priests into Jordan. But God expects us to play our part by faith and in full obedience, and leave the mighty act of removal of hindrance to Him. Sometimes the hindrance is removed before we reach the spot, but at other times, He expects us to come to the hindrance and get a feel of its magnitude and awesomeness. But the One who leads us to the brink of hindrance would also remove it.

Dear friend, are you confronted with a great and awesome hindrance in your walk with your Lord today? Is it stark darkness, insurmountable hill, vast ocean, steep river, walled city, great army, huge monster like Goliath, financial difficulty, health problem,  your own fear and lack of courage or deep frustration that is preventing you to go forward? Remember, your God is able to remove all hindrances whether they are big like Red Sea or small like river Jordan. He has already planned amazing things for you to accomplish on the other side of the hindrance. But you have to overcome hindrances by faith. Perhaps you need to command the sea to be removed. At other times, you might be required to step into the water and it will recede.  At times He asks you to fill your water jars and He will transform it into wine. At other times He wants you to walk around the strong wall and it will crumble. When you shout for God, He makes the great armies to get bewildered and flee. Even a small smooth stone from your crude sling is sufficient to make Goliaths to tumble down before you. He strengthens you with heavenly bread and water so that you can run faster than the chariots of kings to reach Horeb to continue with your ministry. When God exercises His perfect will in removing the hindrances in front of you, it is your responsibility to take the first step of faith as per His instruction to see His mysterious ways in making your pathway smooth. Today He is challenging you to take that first step forward rather than getting anxious about the hindrance and get frustrated. You are given the authority by the Lord Jesus to command the hindrance by faith to be removed from your pathway. Let us not retreat from the pathway that our Lord has established for us, but strive forward with courage, boldness and confidence in His power. As we step forward by faith, we will see victory for the praise of His name.

Joshua 3:13 – As soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord – the Lord of all the earth – set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.

Thought for Today

When faith boldly confronts hindrance, it will flee away.
