Hope and courage!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Psalms 31:24 – Be strong and
let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.
Hope in the Almighty God is very
rewarding and very real. But hope is a smokescreen if it is on unreal and
unstable things or persons. Hope in God energizes our emotions and gives us the
passion to aspire what we hope for. But hope in the mirages of this world will
be totally disappointing. Instead of hoping in the bubbles of this world, God’s
Word admonishes us to hope in the Lord because He stands strong forever as the
Rock of Ages. He is the same yesterday and today and forever and so is His
power, promises and provisions for His children. If we trust and hope in Him,
we will never be put to shame or disappointment. When our hope is in the Lord,
we will become strong and courageous in all our situations. Whereas hope in the
world will drain us of our courage and strength, hope in the Lord will empower
us to keep going boldly in the worst scenarios of life. Hope takes away all
doubt and confusion. Hope doesn’t believe in probabilities, but in certainties.
Hope in God will make it doubly sure that what is hoped for will certainly become
a reality. When we lose hope in the things that are around us, God comes to
give us rejuvenate our hope in Him. His rays of hope break open the darkest
clouds in the horizon and show us the way forward. Our hope is founded on God’s
Word which is eternally secured in heaven. Then we can be strong in our
expectations about His promises and work for us. Today all who lack courage and
strength can go to the Lord and receive hope, power, enabling and boldness from
Him to face all their situations.
Dear friend, are you weak and
heavy laden, gasping for breath as you carry the heavy load of life on your shoulders?
Are you intimidated by the enemy of your soul through your situations and
circumstances and the people around you to lead you to hopelessness? Are you facing challenges, distortions,
gossips, false accusations, pretension and arrogance which drain you of all
hope in life? Are your bitter experiences draining you of your courage and
strength? The remedy for it all is to put your hope in the Lord Jesus and
entrust your situations with Him to handle. When you put your hope in Jesus to
settle your difficult situations, He will give you the wisdom to make the right
decisions and the strength to do what you ought to do. He will empower you
through His Spirit and give you courage and boldness to take the necessary
steps of faith to go forward in His pathways. You have the guarantee that
anyone who puts his hope in the Lord will never be disappointed or embarrassed.
We are to follow the faith of our fathers like Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, David,
Gideon, Samuel and Nehemiah who put their hope in the Lord as they served Him
and walked with Him. Hanna, Ruth and Esther are our mothers who also put their
faith and hope in the Lord and found strength and courage in Him to keep going
during difficult times. Daniel and Jeremiah continued to serve the Lord as
prophets even as they endured trying times, hardship and tests of various kinds
by putting their hope in the Lord. Peter hoped in the Lord as the rulers tried
to execute him, but the Lord honored his faith and gave him deliverance in a
miraculous way. Paul was able to accomplish all that the Lord had planned for
him because he put all his hope in the Lord. Today we have the opportunity to
put all our hope in the Lord in our vulnerable situations and find Him faithful
to give us strength and courage to keep going no matter how humanly hopeless
our situation might be.
Jeremiah 17:7 – Blessed is the
man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
Thought for Today
Hope in the power of God builds us up to become confident, courageous
and bold in Him.
