HOSTILITY TO TRANQUILITY!!

Hostility to tranquility!

Verse for Today: Monday, September 05, 2011

Hebrews 12:3 – For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Life for children of God is often tough and rough. They live according to the principles God has taught them in His Word and so their style comes in direct conflict with the world and its systems. They are dragged into unfortunate conflicts and battles by the world, and these battles make them weary and faint. Their energy is often drained out because of the tensions which these conflicting and hostile circumstances demand. They are put into pressures of various kinds and pushed into anxiety because of the possible consequences of these conflicts. Many God’s children testify on the pages of the Bible that they also faced such hostilities in life and felt weary. But they all had a travel companion who was sufficient to help them meet all the challenges of the hostilities they faced. They found that He had gone through similar situations while He was here on earth. He told them that if they trusted Him, they would get the required grace to go through these tough situations. He knows the demands of such conflicting and hostile situations and comes to us as the One who became victorious over such situations for us. So when we look at Him and see how He endured all of these hostilities, it would encourage us to keep going. When we ask Him to give us the strength to go through these hostilities, He would give us enough and more strength to weather away our hostile situations. He also wants us to know that the world is hostile to us because we belong to Him. If the world was hostile to Him who is the true Son of God, how much more would the world become hostile to us who are only weak human beings who are prone to weariness! But He doesn’t want us to lose heart, but become courageous and bold to face these hostilities in His strength.

Dear friend, are you weary and faint because of the hostile atmosphere you are in at the moment? Perhaps you face hostility in your work situation, neighbourhood, family, social circles or even in your church. You might find that hostilities increase day by day rather than dwindle. You must, however, realize that these hostilities are created in your environment by the enemy of your soul to weaken and frustrate you in life. But your Lord doesn’t want you to faint or feel weary because of these hostilities. First of all, it is only for a short time and we will soon graduate from it all and go into our eternal home. Secondly, there is provision for you to get spiritual energy to weather away these hostile storms in life everyday. Thirdly, you are encouraged to look at your Lord who had undergone such hostilities and who knows its heat and roughness. He has enough of His grace while you go through it all and to come out victorious. His immeasurable grace in meeting the challenges of any hostile circumstance is available to you for the asking. The Lord wants to send words of encouragement to you today as you face your situations so that you will not feel miserable and weary in your current unfriendly territory. But your Lord is with you in such situations to encourage you to keep going without weariness by looking unto Him who is the author and perfecter of your faith. You are invited to draw closer to Him and experience the confidence and reassurance He wants to give you. He will today heal you of all your emotional and physical weariness so that you will enjoy His confidence and strength to go through your hostile environment and become victorious.

Psalms 6:2 – Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am faint; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony.

Thought for Today
In the worst hostile scenarios of life, there is a promise for tranquility in the presence of God.
