COMPASSIONATE PHYSICIAN!!

Compassionate Physician!

Verse for Today: Monday, January 02, 2012

Matthew 14:14 – When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

We are fortunate to be the children of the most compassionate and merciful God who is our Father. He has compassion over His needy children who go to Him seeking help. He knows what their felt needs are and is always ready to provide for them. When He sees people, He knows their physical or mental ailments and heals them. But He is more interested in meeting the spiritual ailments of people. Those who have physical or mental ailments will again get sick after some time because they live in a sinful environment and a sinful body. Sickness is also due to our responses to relationships, circumstances and things. When the spiritually sick are healed with the blood of the Lamb of God, they will be eternally secure. When Jesus looked at people, they were sheep who have gone astray and do not have any shepherds to lead them to the Great Shepherd. So He kept healing them and speaking to them about the spiritual reality that He came to establish. As Jesus once said, only the sick needed a physician. The people were spiritually sick and Jesus was the Great Physician who alone was able to heal their souls along with their bodies and minds. We do not know the depth of our needs which Jesus alone can understand and He is sufficient to meet all these needs abundantly. When we go to Him, He comes to us to give us fellowship and to meet all our needs. He comes to touch us to make us whole in Him.

Dear reader, are you struggling in the midst of unmet needs? Do you have any idea about the extent of your physical, mental and spiritual condition? Just as you have physical ailments indicated by symptoms and signs, your emotional ailments also are indicated by symptoms like sleeplessness, anxiety, worry, guilt and tensions of various kinds. Your spiritual illnesses are indicated by your fear of death, wrong motives, priorities and desires and evil thoughts about yourselves and others with lack of peace in life. But the Lord Jesus is able and willing to meet all of these needs and situations by touching you through His Spirit and applying the Word of God to your heart. If we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our spiritual sicknesses will be healed. If we allow ourselves to be filled with Him and His Spirit, our emotional and social sicknesses will find healing. Once we have spiritual healing, we will have the freedom to ask Him for physical and emotional healing. Our God looks at us always with great compassion and mercy and seeks to help us in all areas where we have lapses. He has all the resources to meet all our needs. But we need genuine and serious desire to be touched by Him. We must go to the Great Physician and tell Him all our problems and expect His touch by faith. He will make us grow in His grace and progress through victory in all areas of our lives. He is committed to heal us provided we desire to touch Him by faith. Today the Lord comes to touch our lives and strengthen us to face our daily challenges in life.

Mark 2:17 – On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick”.

Thought for Today

Blessed are those who desire the healing touch of the Great Physician and enjoy it by faith.
