A Bountiful Day and Year of Gladness!
Verse for Today: Saturday, January 01, 2011
Psalms 118:24 - This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
It is an astonishing truth that the Lord has made us and has ordained all our days in His divine plan. Each day is made by Him for us to live for Him so that He can accomplish His plans for us on that day. The day is unknown to us as we start, but He knows the day in its totality because He has made it. He has already designed all that we need to do on each day. If and when we walk with Him on the new day and become instruments in His hands to accomplish His purpose in us, we would rejoice in that day and be glad. But if we try to accomplish what we want in our fleshly minds and in the programs of the world, the day will end up in grief and disappointment. It then becomes a burden in our hearts which we unnecessarily carry forward. It is a lot easier if we submit ourselves to the Lord and for His plan for each day at day break, and walk with Him each moment. Then the Lord will accomplish what He has designed for us each day. It is for us to ask Him to reveal what He wants us to do each day and pray that He will fill us with His Holy Spirit so that all that we do will be with the power of the Spirit. If we walk with Him hand in hand in the power of the Spirit, there will be no regret whatsoever at the end of the day. This is true for a day, a week, a month or even for a year. We need to start it all with Him and end with Him. But we must quickly realize that the enemy of our souls will entangle us with the affairs of the world in such a way that we would not have enough time to sit at His feet and ask Him to reveal His plan for us on that day. But if we seek His face and spend time with Him, He will speak to us through His Word in the power of His Spirit to tell us what He wants from us on a day that is created for us. A day has 24 hours which is a great resource He has given us and we need to use this great resource for Him in our walk, talk and all our gestures. We may not be able to preach during the 24 hours because we need to sleep, eat and rest, and to do some gainful employment. But these need not prevent us from touching the lives of people through a look, a word or a gesture and become a blessing.
Dear friend, as you usher in a new year in your life, this is a new year and a new day given to you to live for God's glory. This day and the New Year are created for you to live for the Lord. It is a resource in time, but cannot be stored up or turned on and off. It goes off at the fixed rate of 365 days, with 24 hours a day, 60 minutes an hour and 60 seconds a minute. We need to use it all for His glory. We are accountable to the Lord for each component of the year which is a special year us. The Lord is with us today and all the year long to give us the grace to work for His glory. We have to do what He commands us to do as in the case of the servants at the banquet house at Cana so that even the water we fetch will miraculously become wine. Even a word or a gesture of ours can be used by the Lord to touch the life of a person we encounter. This is the day and the year made by the Lord and we will be empowered to be glad in it only and if only we accomplish what He has designed for us on this day and during this year. Let it not be a year of complaints, regrets, lost opportunities or frustrations, but rather a year of praise, worship and great accomplishments for the Lord. May He grant us all the grace that we need to fight the battles in life and become victorious. Let us look back and see Him as our Ebenezer. Let us look to our Jehovah-jireh who has promised to provide for all our needs this year. Let Him give us the victories that we need each day of the New Year as He is our Jehovah-Nissi. Let us see Him as Jehovah-shalom to give us peace that passes all understanding in all circumstances and experiences. This is the day and the year to rejoice in the Lord all along and praise Him!
Psalms 65:11 - You crown the year with Your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.
