Way out of Straits
Verse for Today: Sunday, December 09, 2011
Psalms 118:5 - From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place.
The world challenges the faith of a child of God by creating distressing situations for him. Often they do not find a way out of such situations of anguish and concern. Events get complicated day by day and seem to tighten the nooks around a child of God and suffocate him. He finds no way out in spite of best efforts because the enemy who creates such tight situations for a child of God is very powerful and his only intention is to shatter the faith of the child of God. In such situations, the child of God has a great solution with Him which is to cry unto the Lord. He is given the privilege to call upon the Lord at any time of the day or night. Sure enough, the Lord will hear the cries of His children and when He hears our sobs and sighs and see our tears, He will not keep inactive, but will definitely act. Our Lord will come to us at the nick of time to save us from the distress that we are in. We are rest assured that there will be answer from Heaven. Has this not been proved by our varying experiences day after day? We read in God's Word that whenever His children called upon Him, God has answered. He responded to the cries of Moses, Joshua, the children of Israel, David, Gideon, Jacob, Paul, Elijah and others and set them as great and powerful witnesses for us to learn that He will answer us also if we go to Him with a deep desire for His interference. The God of our fathers who sustained them through answered prayers will answer us also when we are in the narrow and strait corners of our sojourn. He not only gives answers to us, but will also come out to be with us in our situations to give us release. If we are in a strait, He will take us to a large place. If we are in a slippery place, He will take us to a rock for firm footing. If we are in darkness, He will take us to light. If we are starving, He will lead us to a banquet hall. When we have tears in our eyes, He will wipe our tears and put a bright smile on our faces.
Dear friend, are you a weary traveler who is cornered to a strait by the evil and wicked tactics of the enemy through the manipulation of your situations? Do you find a wall in front of you that you cannot cross over? Is an air of hopelessness looming large around you? Your pain and misery will increase if you find out that you are all alone in such a situation. But you have a person and a place to go to. You have the privilege to cry before your Heavenly Father who will listen to your cries and come down to help you. His word to you is that there is no need for you to be in distress because the Lord has already designed deliverance for you out of the strait you are in. It might look impossible because the enemy has cornered you from all sides and you might think that you are in a hallway which has no doors and windows. But remember, your Lord is your way and door to go out of difficult situations. Your naked eyes might not be able to see the way, but if you look to around with your eyes of faith, you will be able to believe that the Lord will send help in an instance. A way will appear for you to be transferred to a large place where you will find freedom to move around. But the most exciting thing is that your Lord will be with you both in the present situation and in the new situation that He is going to place you. When the enemy comes to tell you that you are all alone, don't you believe it. Your Lord has promised never to leave you alone nor forsake you. He gives you His personal attention, company, fellowship, reassurance and tangible change in your situation. So dear friend, in your times of distress, keep using the prerogative given to you to cry unto your Heavenly Father with boldness in your soul and faith in your heart. It is only natural that your benevolent, compassionate and merciful Father will hear you and give you the needed deliverance at the right time.
Psalms 32:7 - You are my hiding-place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
