Apple of God’s Eye!
Verse for Today: Saturday, January 5, 2013
Psalms 17:8 – Keep me as the
apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings.
The most successful warriors of
God are people who believed that they won their battles with God on their side.
They were sure that their tactics and skills were irrelevant without God
fighting for them. So they relied on God for every battle and trusted God as
they faced severe attacks from their enemies. David was such a great warrior
and he secured innumerable victories over his enemies by solely depending on
God. When he faced Goliath, he only had God in his heart and on his tongue. He
knew that God would keep him as the apple of His eyes and hide him under the
shadow of His wings. It is this confidence that makes us face the enemy and his
attacks in life. Like David, we have to solely depend on God for protection and
safety. Even as we take the Sword of the Lord in our hands, we fight through
His enabling. His Spirit equips us to use the shield of faith in the right
manner lest we falter and get hurt. At the same time, our God loves us as the
apple of His eyes and will always keep us safe. We are precious to Him because
He purchased us with the very blood of His only Son. If we lose a battle, it
affects His reputation. There is a guarantee that He will keep us as the apple
of His eyes in all our battles. Our dwelling place is the shadow of His wings
to enjoy His security and safety. Like David, we might look at the enemy, a
roaring and ferocious lion, and get frightened. As we tend to lose our
confidence, our utterance might come out as the prophetic word which our God fulfills
for us. So David’s prayer is in essence the answer to his prayer as to how God
protects us as the apple of His eye.
Dear friend, are you under attack
by the enemy of your soul through your circumstances, situations, events and
the people around you? Is your circumstance acting like a fierce and ferocious
lion which is trying to devour you? Are you sunk deep in fear about your emerging
situations? But there is no need to be afraid because you are kept as the apple
of the very eye of your God. He hides
you under the shadow of His wings like a mother bird protects her chicks. His
wings of love and compassion cover you from the heat of your situations and
give you the coolness of His shadows. He gives you the strength to fight all
your battles and to defeat all your enemies in His name by using His energy.
When the enemy attacks you, do not forget that you are kept in the palm of His
hands. He fills you with His confidence and courage to face the attacks and
score victory in your situations and circumstances. When you lack confidence,
all you have to do is to pray to your Lord and draw upon His resources by
faith. Your battles belong to the Lord as He fights the enemy for you. He will
not allow you to be destroyed through adverse circumstances and situations, but
will hide you under His wings to weather away the wind and the heat of the
warfare. Today it is your prerogative to call on the name of the Lord and march
from victory to victory as you enjoy your position as the apple of God’s eye.
Today is your opportunity to linger under the coolness of the shadow of the
Almighty.
Isaiah 4:6 – And there shall
be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of
refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

Blessed are those who enjoy the coolness of the Shadow of the Almighty
as the apple of His eyes.
