IMMEDIACY OF FAITH!!

Immediacy of faith!

Verse for Today: Sunday, April 08, 2012

Matthew 14:27 – But immediately Jesus spoke to them saying, ‘Take courage, it is I; don’t be afraid’.

Our God interferes in our affairs with amazing speed when we are desperate. He knows our situations and our mental makeup and understands how much we can take. When we are strong and patient, we would have the ability to wait. But when the pressure is intense and bewildering, it would be difficult for us to wait and we become desperate for an answer and a direct divine interference in our affairs. Our Lord knows about it and He always deals with us according to our needs. Our times are all in His hands. When we are weak and tired, He deals with us fast. When we are in danger, He would not watch and wait. When our spirit is sagging, He will come quickly. In all of these, He is more interested in building up our faith. He knows when to interfere instantly and when to deal slowly. Sometimes He wants us to take time to learn from our own mistakes rather than get a quick escape from our predicaments. In all of these, we can say that our Lord interferes in our affairs at the right time. He is never late or early. He knows the best of times to come in to help us. He would not push us always to our wits end. When we are desperate, He will send His angels to rescue us. At other times, He uses other human beings and even nature to help us. But He knows when He should come into our scenario directly to give us courage to face our situations on the basis of our faith in Him.

Dear reader, are you going through a desperate situation in your life today and desire that our Lord comes in to salvage you instantly? Today you might be facing very difficult circumstances, and might be afraid to face the next moment in your life. You are probably bewildered and hesitating to take the next step forward. At a time like this, the Lord sent a group of Ishmaelites to rescue Joseph from the pit and to take him forward as the next step in God’s plan for his life. The Lord made the king sensitive to the facial expression of Nehemiah in leading him forward. He created a scenario for David to be lifted up from the grazing field to face Goliath and then on to become king of Israel. He appears at the right moment and gives us courage and strength, and reassures us that He is in full control of our situations. Our circumstances might be ordained of Him to allow us to go through it to learn that we cannot handle it ourselves, but only He can. Sometimes, these circumstances might come up out of our foolishness, thoughtlessness or overconfidence in our own abilities. Even when we are in such a fix, He comes there to give us courage, take our fears and doubts away and give us a release. He then teaches us that He is the only one who can handle our situations. He fills us with His peace and love in His holy presence, but also speaks through His Word so that we will have the vision of the risen Savior who will be our great source of courage and confidence. Today He comes to lift us up and hold our hands to take us forward as part of His eternal plan and lead us from strength to strength.

Matthew 14:31 - Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and took hold of him, and said to him, ‘you of little faith, why did you doubt?’

Thought for Today

Our future is safe in the Hands which hold us.
