MY PROVIDER!!

My Provider!

Verse for Today: Tuesday, April 03, 2012

Psalms 147:9 – He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.

The world has yet to recognize the Lord as the giver to all creatures. They often feel that they are feeding themselves and everyone else in this world through their smart ideas and technology. But all the means to produce and provide for the hunger and thirst of all creatures come from the Lord. He allows plants and grass to grow in His fields through the principles He has established on this earth. He makes different types of food for the ravens to eat wherever they go. He does the same for human beings so that they would eat and grow. It is important to recognize the Lord as the ultimate giver of all that this world has. He gives physical, emotional and spiritual nourishment to all human beings. The ultimate food is spiritual and He gives it to us by providing the Bread of Heaven which was made available through the death of Jesus Christ. If we have Jesus in our lives, we would never be hungry or thirsty again. This world offers us seemingly attractive foods to eat, but it would make us unhealthy and create negative craving for spiritually destructive things like position, power, prestige and possessions. If we take these, we would be hungry again. These are created by human beings for themselves by using the destructive resources of the Vanity Fair. It will give us pseudo satisfaction and make us crave for more of it. But our Lord gives us food for our souls in the form of joy, peace, love and grace which give us satisfaction. Not only that, we would be able to pass it on to others who have spiritual needs. As the Lord gives us the eternal food, He also helps us with our physical needs. The Lord who is concerned about the cattle and ravens has great concern for His children. So He helps us with all our mundane needs while we work hard to bring glory to His name and for the extension of His kingdom.

Dear reader, do you at times struggle with your basic needs? It is at such times that the enemy of our soul comes to us to create doubts in our hearts about God’s provisions for us. But there is no need for us to doubt the benevolence of our Lord who takes the responsibility to feed all His creation. If He so kindly meets the needs of the cattle and the birds, how much more would He meet our needs! He meets our needs according to His dignity and status and not according to our standards and measurements. He measures His gifts to us by His measurement which far exceeds that of our imaginations and expectations. He has already made us inheritors of all that is His and wants us to appropriate it by faith. He wants us to trust Him to provide for our needs as we are His precious children. Our trust will make us seek His kingdom and His righteousness while we mind His business in our lives. It then becomes imperative that He meets our needs according to His promises. That’s why God’s children can live in this world without anxiety. Once we hand our affairs over to the Lord, He will handle it far beyond our expectations. He waits for us to go to Him to receive what He bestows upon us. His provisions are there for us today and tomorrow as it has been yesterday. But He wants to first fill us with His love and grace so that we would have the humility to accept what He gives us. When He gives, no force on earth can stop it from flowing to us. When He opens the windows of heaven, we should be there to receive His supplies to meet our needs by faith.

Psalms 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; the Lord bestows grace and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

Thought for Today

The Lord’s giving to meet our needs is evidence of His love, mercy and compassion towards us.
