Verse for Today
Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Anxious minds usually imagine out all negative consequences which they expect to happen to them. These negative thoughts will threaten them and make them afraid of the consequences they expect and firmly believe will come their way. They will have their own intelligent arguments to believe that what they expect will happen to them and that it would be detrimental to their interests. When such thoughts pervade their minds, they will refuse comfort and encouragement. But even at such moments of great stress and tension, there is a place of quiet rest that is available to the child of God. The God of this Universe has promised that if we submit our prayers with thanksgiving in advance for the answers which are to come from Him, the peace of God will garrison our hearts from fretting and wallowing about the consequences. This peace that is promised is something beyond intelligence and reasoning. Reason will say that something bad will happen, but the peace of God will tell us to rest and relax because God will work out something to save us the heartache that reason expects. Reason will find dozens of justifications to think negatively and call it probable consequences. Reason will argue with us to make us believe in the negative and the tragic. Reason will predict loss, failure, hurt, rejection and isolation. But the peace that passes all understanding will speak softly and say that the God who is in control will make it in such a way that things will be handled by Him to make it all praiseworthy and rejoicing. When reason still argues for the worst scenario, the peace of God will comfort and strengthen us to believe in the best scenario that God is working things out for us so that we can take courage and strength in Him.
Dear friend, do you have a negative thinking pattern? Do you expect evil consequences and setbacks in everything that you seek to do? Is reason making you a believer in the worst scenarios of life? Please understand that your reason is human and it has its own limitations. Reason will not multiply 5 loaves and two fish into feeding thousands with plenty of leftovers. Reason will not calm the sea, quench the fire and shut the mouths of lions. Reason will not understand resurrection and raising the dead. Reason will argue against stopping the wind and breaking the walls of opposition when people walk around. Reason will laugh at a leper who dips in a muddy river seven times. But today reason is experiencing great setbacks because God is working small and big miracles in the lives of His people to hope against hope in His might. Reason is ashamed in itself when it sees Peter sleeping sound a few hours before he was threatened to be executed. Reason is embarrassed when water is turned into wine. When we are at the place of quiet rest near to the heart of God, He will garrison our hearts and minds with faith which is beyond all comprehension that we can blindly believe in the God of Promises to keep going forward. This peace is not reasonable to man, but for His children, it is quite reasonable to believe in the goodness of their Father in Heaven who provides for and working for His children. Not only that, His children are much less looking for miracles, but for peace that passes all understanding so that they can go through the storms of life through their Lord who is with them and keeps them in peace and patience. He helps His children to believe that they can face all their moments in life because their Lord is with them and that He will carry them through the fire and the storms of life. Let us enjoy this peace of God and the presence of the God of peace every moment of our lives.
John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, not let it be fearful.
Thought for Today
The fiery arrows of reason cannot penetrate the wall of God's peace around His children.
