Healthy faith!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, December 10, 2013
Psalms 31:9 – Be merciful to
me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my
body with grief.
Many of our sicknesses come from
the way we respond to the distress that we pass through. If we negatively react
to our disappointments for long, it crushes us emotionally and slowly affects
the various systems of our bodies. Many of us are thus sick and suffering from
various ailments. When disappoints come our way, it is a challenge for which God
wants us to react on the basis of faith that He will turn it into hope. When we
react by faith, God gives us the courage to face our situation and the strength
to do what we ought to do to overcome it. But when disappointments linger for
long in the emotional realms of life, it will intensify pressure and tension caused
by the stressful situations. When our emotions are thus unduly pressed upon, we
draw extra energy from our bodies to cope with it. Thus our emotions work on our
glands, muscles, joints, vital organs and even our skin and all the systems of
our body. When the pressure becomes greater than what the body can take, it takes
its toll on our bodies and weakens its functions. Over a period of time, our
bodies absorb the pressure and slowly fall into single or multiple ailments of
various types. Our immunity is also affected and so we fall prey to infections
of various kinds. But God doesn’t want us to fall sick and lose our vitality
and vigor which He wants us to use for His glory. He wants us to live with a
positive outlook based on our ardent faith in Him and in His mighty power to
turn our disappointments into hope. But unfortunately we succumb to pressures
from our situations and fall sick and lose our confidence in life. David went
through such experiences in life when he was buffeted by his enemies and
situations. But God in His mercy helped him to put all his faith in God, and so
he found healing through God’s touch. David found that faith was the panacea
for all his emotional illnesses.
Dear friend, are your experiences
of continuous disappointments leading you to increased pressure, tensions and
frustrations in life? Are these frustrations taking away your appetite, deprive
you of sleep and affecting your body clock? Are you getting more frequent bouts
of headaches, irritable bowels, nausea, exhaustion, drowsiness and lethargy? Do
you often lose interest in anything and feeling aimless with changing moods?
Perhaps today you are going through frustrations, despondency, doubts,
confusions and lack of courage which come from lack of faith in the Lord to
deal in all your situations. Faith in the Lord is the panacea for all your
emotional aberrations. If you put your trust in the Lord, He will fill your
heart with hope, courage and boldness to face your situations. Only faith can
answer your perplexing questions in life. Yes, by faith you will get strength
to face all your situations with courage and boldness. You will thus be enabled
to hand all your disappointments over to the Lord and rest in His presence. He
will then fill you with His peace in all your situations. Today if distress and
grief come to overtake you, pass it on to the Lord. He will give you His peace in
all situations. He will give you joy in spite of your situations and make you
confident to face it all with Him on your side. Thus you will have joy in your
heart, strength in your bodies and praise in your mouth.
1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your
anxiety on the Lord because He cares for you.
Thought for Today
The healing touch of Jesus will
give us emotional and physical health and fill us with joy our hearts and
praise on our lips.
Prayer for Today
Dear Lord Jesus: Help me today to
hand over all my frustrations to You and experience Your joy in all my
situations. Amen!
