Verse for Today
Psalms 5:3 - In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.

Christian life is a series of new beginnings. Each new day is a day of new implications. It is a time to forget the pains and burdens of the previous day and look forward for a new day with new expectations and prospects. It is a new day with new challenges, new opportunities and new heights of faith in our lives. It is likely that we went to bed the previous night with a lot of burdens in our hearts, groping for answers to the rough patches of life and searching for reasons why the Lord was waiting to answer us. But the Lord gave us sleep and brought us into a new day with Him. It is a new day created by the Lord for us to live for His glory and to bear witness to the fact that our Lord lives, and He reigns. He is still the King of kings and Lord of lords. He still has control over all the elements of this Universe and they all obey Him without question. But we have the assurance that this Lord is ready for us as we raise our voices to Him so that He can answer us. He is ready to do what would meet our needs and to take our burdens away. He is ready to fill our hearts with His desires for us as we sit in His presence. He is asking us to have high expectations about Him and what He would do for us. He is ready to fill us if we have the faith to open our mouths wide. His presence is the right place to wait in great expectations. All other places on this earth are sinking sand and no good thing will come out of it. Whatever comes out of this world is a shadow and all its promises are like writings on a smoke screen or scribblings on the water. But that is not with our our Lord. He says what He means and puts His name at stake when He makes promises to us. He is today inviting us to be in His presence with great expectations and lay waiting for Him to act. Remember, He is there for us and we need to make sure that we are at His feet to wait for Him to act.

Dear friend, are you in desperate need for some answers to come from the Lord today? The right place to go to is the presence of our Lord which is our reservoir of all the good things that He has in store for His children. We can appropriate it all by faith and claim it in the name of our Lord Jesus. These resources cannot be purchased by money or jewelry. These are not perishable and corruptible. The Lord's presence is a place of peace, compassion, love, joy and grace and it is the most appropriate place to lay our requests and wait in great expectation. Once the requests are made to the Lord, our only remaining responsibility is to wait for Him to answer us. If He doesn't answer us instantly, He will give us the peace that passes all understanding to wait for His time to come. Remember, you have already prayed that His will might be done in your life. Once you have committed your life to Him and have vouched to live according to His perfect will, you should have no complaint about what He gives and at what time frame He gives it. Even the time frame, the quantity and quality of what He gives is governed by His perfect will. Perhaps you would be disappointed in the short run thinking that you didn't get what you wanted at your time. But in the due course, you would understand that whatever He denied is denial in His grace and compassion. For He knows that if He had given you what you desperately wanted, it would have ended up in your spiritual ruin rather than blessings. Perhaps His time frame was not yours because at your time frame, you were not ready spiritually and so He delayed it to make you trust Him more intimately. Even the capacity to wait for Him for as long as it would be permitted by the Lord, and the contentment with all that He gives you, are all from the Lord Himself according to His divine purpose and plan for you. Our responsibility is to take our burdens to the Lord and leave it there for Him to handle it at His will, purpose and time frame. We wait in expectation while He acts in benevolence for His glory and our good. Isn't it wonderful to have such a gracious Lord who deals with us in compassion?

Lamentations 3:24 - I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him".

Thought for Today
The Eternal God gives us expectations which are fulfilled now and throughout all eternity.
