Verse for Today
Psalms 9:10 - Those who know your name will trust in You, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

David, the Psalmist testifies two wonderful truths to us today. Both of these come from his experience before and after he became king of Israel. It was not in the agenda of David to become king and we do not have any record to believe that he ever desired to become king. He even confessed that he was not worthy to become a son-in-law of the king. But he knew in later years that it was in the Lord's plan that he becomes king of Israel because he was to become a great grandfather of Jesus Christ in His humanity to sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem. David's life was a great struggle every step of the way. But he could trust in the Lord because he knew this Lord personally. His knowledge of the mighty power and loving kindness of the Lord had enabled him to trust in Him to deliver him from wild animals and wilder men like Goliath. The Lord also delivered him from the hands of all the enemies of God who were around the nation of Israel. For David, it was knowing the Lord that changed his life and perspectives. Once he knew the mighty power of the Lord, he had no difficulty trusting in Him to meet all the challenges he faced throughout his life. His knowledge of the Lord made David sing songs about the greatness of our Lord and about His plans for the Messiah, His enemies and His Kingdom. This was possible because David was close to the Lord as his true sheep who could trust in Him in all circumstances. David also realized through his various experiences that this is a Lord who would never forsake those who seek after Him and cry unto Him. This was why David sought after Him early in the morning, at night and at all other times. He found that the Lord never disappoints. He filled the heart of David with divine thoughts and consolations. He strengthened David with divine promises. He fortified the heart of David with words of comfort. He renewed His promises to David and strengthened His faith. Today David tells us that all the grace that he received throughout his life time can be ours to live a victorious life for the glory of the Lord.

Dear friend, do you know the Lord personally to be able to know His plans, programs, desires and priorities? The more you know Him, the more He will reveal His glorious might to you to enable you to trust in Him to keep going in this wilderness journey that you have undertaken with Him. The Lord guarantees that He will never leave nor forsake His children when they go to Him with cries for help. Going to Him is our responsibility and responding to us is His prerogative. We can go to Him any time, at any place and in any circumstance. His doors are always open for His children. His ears are always attentive to the cries of His children. His arms are always active to rescue them from peril. His eyes watch over them at all times. In fact, He carries us in His hands and close to His chest so that in spite of difficult circumstances, we can keep trusting this Lord for any thing and everything. When all hope is gone, there is still hope with the Lord. When all strength is gone, there is still strength in the Lord. When all joy around diminishes, He will give us His joy which no circumstances can take away from us. Even when we see dark clouds in the horizon, the Son of Righteousness will soon appear to brighten our situations. It certainly is a great privilege to know this Lord and to live for His glory in this world. Thus when we experience the Lord and know Him more and more day by day, we will be able to say to the world that they could also trust in the Lord, and the way to grow in our trust in Him is to know Him more intimately. We are then able to recommend our Lord to others that He will never forsake His children. He will never leave us as orphans. He will not abandon us. He will never keep quiet about our situations and leave us unattended to. At the right time, He will answer to our cries. Till His answers come, He will fill our hearts with His peace which passes all understanding. Today let us live for this Lord, and live with Him in His holy presence and enjoy His companionship, fellowship and partnership in what He wants to do through us in this world.

Joshua 1:5 - No-one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Thought for Today
The more we know the Lord, the more will be our trust in Him.
