REFUGE: REAL OR PSEUDO?
Verse for Today: Thursday, October 07, 2010
Psalms 11:1 - In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain?".

When the child of God goes through a rough patch in life, the world would think that it was the end of the rope for them. This is because they do not understand where his anchor lies and on whom he is rooted. The child of God has his refuge in the Lord and His mighty power. So there is no need for him to run away from the battlefront. He fights the battle with the enemy from the front line without retreat or turning back. He is given no armour for his back and cannot go back or surrender to the enemy. He is already surrendered to the Lord and so he is a weapon in the Lord's hands to fight from victory. It is not surprising that the world around us will tell us to flee away from our situations to some refuge far away, because they do not know our commander-in-chief. Perhaps the world looks around for mountains to help them, but not the child of God. He doesn't look to the mountains of wealth, fame, prestige or prominence to help him, but to the Lord alone. So for a child of God, there is no question of running away from the war front. There is no question of looking unto the mountains of the world for help. There is no way a child of God can go to the world and ask for help. He knows that his enemy once asked His Lord to look unto him for help, but the Lord used the Sword of the Lord, the Word of God, to bruise him badly and he had to flee. But he is a shameless foe and will come back to use the same futile weapons against the Lord's children even today. Our testimony is always that we have taken the Lord as our never-changing refuge and there is no shadow of turning with Him.

Dear friend, are you tempted to call it quits today from your painful circumstances? Do you feel that in order to safeguard yourself, it is better that you run away from the war front? Are your advisers suggesting that you run away and surrender to the enemy? Are you being pressured to go to the mountains of this world for help? God forbid that it happens to us and we can trust in the Lord that He will not allow it to happen. He wants to reassure you and me that these advises are not from Him and that the enemy is using his cunningness to drag us into defeat. There is no refuge like that of the Lord, and His presence is the best cover against the greatest pressures in life. It is bad testimony for us if we fall into the temptation of going to the mountains of this world asking for help. These mountains look tall and mighty, but are only a smokescreen. They are hell's advertisement to lure you to it, but when you go near it, you will see that it is all powerless to give you refuge. It will be like a mirage in the wilderness and the farther you go to seek it, the farther it will take you away from the will of God. Until the Lord commands, let us stay near the brook of Cherith or in the lodging place in the widow's house at Sarephath. The Nebuchadnezzars and the Pharaohs of this world need to come to the Daniels and the Josephs for wisdom and not the other way around. Let them see our testimony and relentless faith and come to us for knowing the way to the real refuge. The Lord is our Rock which will never be shaken, even if the heavens and the earth are removed, and the mountains fall into the sea. Let us confide in this mighty Lord and be confident that He will lead us day by day, from victory to victory, for the sake of His holy name!

2 Samuel 22:3 - The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.

Thought for Today
Running away from the Rock to which you are permanently and perfectly embedded to the pseudo-mountains of instability is most unwise, illogical and destructive.
