CONFIDENCE FOR THE PATHWAY

Verse for Today: Wednesday, October 06, 2010

Psalms 10:17 - You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry.

God's children often expect their God to interfere fast into their circumstances to straighten their affairs up and solve their problems. When God doesn't intervene quickly, we sometimes grow impatient and feel desperate, and occasionally fall into frustration. This was what happened to the disciples in the battered boat amidst the wind and the storm, and they even started to question the Lord's motives. But they didn't understand that the storm outside their hearts was much milder than their stormy, fearful and anxious hearts which baffled them. The Lord knew very well that if the storm inside, in terms of anxiety and fear, is calmed, their major problem was solved. And He knew very well what He was going to do to rescue them from the storm. Like these disciples, we are more concerned about the external whereas the Lord is concerned with the internal. He wants us to have confidence in the Him because He is working on our affairs according to His plan and pace with a divine schedule. He is more concerned about how we respond to the external troubles and see to it that our hearts are at rest with Him. He is more interested in building up our faith and taking away our fear and unbelief. Surely, He hears our cries, but before He answers our cries, His interest is to calm our hearts, thoughts and fears so that we will become immovable in any diabolic situations. He wants us to be encouraged because He is most concerned about us and our affairs and will do what is required at the best time according to His divine plan. He wants us to build up our life of faith and trust in Him because He is in charge of our affairs.

Dear friend, are you experiencing a crisis of confidence at the moment? Do you have the firm belief that your Lord has heard your cries and petitions? You need to know that the Lord knows it all even before you cry to Him, for He is the God of all times. He doesn't have a future or past like we have because He is above time. He knows your needs long before you know about it and is busy working on it. His answer is on its way, but His immediate concern is your trust in Him. If you have trusted Him for your eternity, you need to ask whether you can trust Him for your daily needs and the immediate circumstances as well. So when you go through a difficult scenario like a storm, wind, fire, flood, smoke, dark clouds, waves, cold valleys and unbearable heat of the situations, He is there with you in your situation. Remember, He is the Lord of all your situations. He will not leave you nor forsake you. He will not leave you alone to suffer, for He bears your burdens and goes with you all the way to bring you out of it all unhurt. So your prerogative is to keep trusting Him and rest in His presence for His deliverance at the right time. As you look to His face for help, His Spirit will encourage and strengthen you to keep going without doubt or unbelief. He wants you to leave your present and future cares and concerns completely with Him and to take your hands off the situation because you know by now that you can't do any thing about it any way. If the Almighty's hands are working on your affairs, why should you also meddle in it and make it complicated? He is now preparing and building up your heart to face your circumstance and become stronger in your faith. He expects you to be humble before Him, trust in His mighty power and rest in His love and care so that the storms or wind will not affect your heart. You have so much to praise Him for all that He has done for you in the past. If you do so adequately, where will you find opportunity to grumble or doubt? Just rest in His presence and wait for His arms to accomplish great things through you for the praise of His holy name.

Matthew 8:26 - Jesus replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

Thought for Today
The Lord's priority is your heart's rest and peace in Him far more than your circumstances.
