Psalms 80:3 – Restore us, O God; make Your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
When we realize that we are broken in our souls because of the circumstances we go through and as we reach a place of despair and despondency, it is natural that we seek a way out. It is at this time that the enemy of our souls would want us to take a worldly detour. But time and again we have observed in other lives that the worldly way is the way to destruction. If we use our own intelligence to rebuild our lives, we would find it impossible because we do not have the resources. Our resources are that of wood, grass and hay which cannot withstand the pressures of life. Our technology will end up in building on the sand which will not stand the mighty winds and storms that blow against it. Our human efforts will be evidenced with all its weaknesses and frailties. But if we hand our broken pieces to the Lord, admit our brokenness to Him and ask Him to rebuild us, He will use His resources to build us up. He is the Master Designer and Builder of Ages. He is the creator of the whole universe and knows how to build strong structures. If we ask Him to restore us, He will do it according to His will and plan. He is the potter who will reshape our broken pots and put His glory in it. He will allow His face to shine upon us so that we will be delivered from all our troubles and made us into a shape of His perfect will. But we must surrender the broken pieces of our lives to Him. Then our lives will emanate His glory to the outside world to touch the broken lives around us.
Dear friend, do you feel that your life has crumbled with the pressures that you have been encountering? Perhaps the enemy of your soul will come to you and tell you that all hope about your life is gone. But do not be tempted to believe this lie which comes from the father of all lies. There is great hope about your broken life if you give it to the Lord Jesus who wants to re-create you. The broken pieces of your life may be rapped in the rags of your life and submitted to the Lord and He will take it and reshape it according to His will. Remember how He restored and reshaped the broken life of Jacob the Patriarch. He did the same for Job and made it more glorious than before. He restored the life of David after he went away from the Lord. He helped Simon Peter to rebuild his life at the beach of the Sea of Galilee. John Mark also had the privilege to be reshaped by the Lord to make him even a Gospel writer. Onesimus and Jonah had the same privilege to be rebuilt by the Lord. He gives His children opportunities again because as He rebuilt the Temple and the walls of Jerusalem. We must realize that the process of rebuilding is painful to go through. But it will change our spiritual configuration and make us more like the Master Himself. Today He is willing to listen to you if you go to Him with the broken pieces of your life and ask Him to rebuild you so that His shekainah will shine through your life. It is better to take our hands off the process and allow the Lord full freedom to shape us the way He wants us to be.
Psalms 23:3 – He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Thought for Today
When God restores us with His hands, we will shine forth with His glory as His unique handiwork.
