Psalms 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
God's children throughout all ages have faced trouble of different kind. These troubles have taken the shape of sickness, emotional disorders, financial difficulties, opposition at work, conflicts in the neighbourhood and such other difficulties which are not easy to cope with. These situations often leave us helpless and drain our strength and energies. These often take our focus away from the Lord to these problems and troubles and we waste a lot of our time fighting it our internally and externally in our own strength. Many of these troubles are situations that the enemy of our souls brings on our way. Many situations are a direct result of the sinful environment in which we live and the ungodly people we deal with. Sometimes we are taken through such situations by the Lord to teach us valuable lessons. Sometimes we get into trouble because of our own foolish and thoughtless responses to the environment. Sometimes we get into trouble because we take a stand against evil and wickedness. No matter what the causes are, God's children always have trouble in this world. Our Lord has told us in advance that we are like sheep in the midst of wolves and lily among the thorns. When we live in this world as witnesses for the Lord, the enemy will always attack us in different ways and he wants us to take our eyes off the Lord and concentrate on the problems. This is the sure way of the enemy to distract us from our faith and make us confused and drained in our spiritual energies. But the Word reassures us that the Lord is our permanent and perpetual refuge in all situations under whom we can confide. He is our strength when our strength is drained because of the spiritual battle we are engaged in. He is always with us and available for us to approach for help, strength and support. When God is our refuge and strength, it guarantees our safety and strength for us to fight the circumstances created by the enemy.
Dear friend, are you feeling drained out today because of the difficult situations you are faced with? Do you feel troubled in your soul because the battle is tough? Are you getting exasperated because your troubles are abounding and becoming more and more fierce? Do you feel tired of fighting? There is no need for you to be discouraged because the Lord is near you. Discouragement will never come form the Spirit of God. Today the Lord wants to encourage you to look at Him who is ever-present in all your situations. You must know that you are not going through these troubles alone. The Lord will not let you go alone through these troubles. He is near you and He walks with you. He is your strength when you feel weak. He is your refuge when you feel attacked to the point of loss and intimidation. He is your powerhouse when you are exhausted in the battle and need energy to keep going. He is the author and finisher of your faith and if you look unto Him, He will fill you with Himself and His Spirit who is God's Power. His Spirit is not one of doubt and confusion, but of courage and confidence. His nearness to you is your greatest comfort. Remember, you are seated with Him in the heavenly places and His presence is with you all the time. If you continue to dwell under the shadow of the Lord, you have nothing to be afraid of. No matter what your situation today is, the Lord will carry you through and lead you onwards until the troubles are over. Remember, when He gives you victory in one trouble, another is awaiting you. But He will give you the strength to go through all the ensuing troubles. Even through troubles, all your future is secure in His hands and He will continue to be your strength and refuge in all the troubles. So, dear friend, take courage, face the trouble with the Lord on your side, and come out victorious because you are already declared the winner.
Psalms 46:11 - The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
